Backlog, tastes while pouring this as a volunteer at MBCC2017 and also at BUMBa. Various bottles. This is a thick vicous beast, out of the bottles poured at MBCC some contained actual syrup at the bottom but the overall body was full and chewy. Bourbon, chocoate, sweet roasted malts, caramel fudge, vanilla, maple syrup, toffee. Lovely, perhaps too high in the sugar syrup notes but could have this for dessert every day.

(Bottle sample @ MBCC 2017 Blue Session, Copenhagen) Pours black with a short lived tan head. Notes of sweet syrupy dark malt that is butterscotch/fudge heavy and supplemented with equally syrupy maple, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, dark fruit, moderate roast, some drying wood. Medium to high sweetness gives way to a semi-sweet and lightly bitter finish with some drying alcohol. Rather full viscous body with very low carbonation. Good stuff, a little on the sweet side for drinkability but tasty nonetheless.

From notes. Enjoyed at the hotel before FoBAB with Gus, Todd, and Ed on November 11. 750 mL bottle, 2015 vintage. The pour is a nice darker brown/black color with a thicker cap of light tan head that fizzles away quickly without a trace. The aroma on this is sweet as eff. Good lord. There is a ton of maple, both actual syrup and fake extract flavor. There is a nice chocolate that comes through after that and a nicely bitter roast that helps smooth this one out. There is a little bit of a bourbon burn on the tail end of the nose and a hint of oak. The flavor is a little better. The maple comes through in a heavy sweetness with a nice chocolate and roasted malt to balance it out. It’s good, but a little singular up front. There is a nice bourbon that grows throughout and a little vanilla creeps through and works well. The oak polishes off a great balance. The mouth feel is a little lacking. It’s medium, maybe medium plus in body with a soft carbonation and a lingering bitter roast and sweet, fake maple. This isn’t too bad, but I wish it was so much more. 7 4 8 4 15

Bourbon barrel aged stout from a brewery in Georgia I never heard of. Pale yellowish foam immediately reduced to a thin ring, over a black beer with burgundy edges. Aroma of chocolate liqueur, caramel, pepper cream sauce, candied dates, very noticeable bourbon but still traces of the maple syrup as well, incense, vanilla-ish oak, glue-like solvents. Sweet onset, candied, bit cloying even, but matched with a sourish elderberry juice-like hint, thin black olive-like umami accent even, soft carbo, thick and very oily mouthfeel, syrupy due to the high amount of residual sugars. Hazelnutty, very chocolatey and toffeeish maltiness, hints of marzipan and chestnut sauce, spicy hop punch in the finish alongside oaky tannins and warming, bourbon- and rum-like alcohol, very heating indeed yet not wry at all, glue-ish solvents retronasally; the syrupy, chocolate sauce-like sweetness persists. Thick, sweet, 'decadent' stout, excellent, I wonder why this is not better known than it is.

At Hopishop 2017. Aroma has cherry, vanilla, chocolate and coconut. Taste of chocolate, maple, bourbon vanilla, coconut, cacao powder, umami and a long finish. Thick mouthfeel. Very, very good. I never even heard of this beer, but it's fantastic.
