COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Depth, complexity and richness occur when delicious ale ages in a barrel, just as friendship grows over the years. This stout was created in collaboration with our friends from Philadelphia’s Standard Tap and Johnny Brenda’s restaurants. Using their delicious hand-roasted JB’s Coffee, our bourbon barrels deliver a bold and robust, chocolate malt-tinged stout. We invite you to toast the Victory of friendship and beer with Java Cask!

tightslice (2828) - Austin, Texas, USA - OCT 18, 2020
UPDATED: OCT 18, 2020 4 pack from Central Market in Austin, TX. Aroma is dark coffee, coffee liquor, bourbon, buttery caramels, very dark (less vanilla bourbon). Taste is dark roast coffee, warming booze, bourbon, bitter coffee grounds, crisp and dry-ish. Tons of coffee and bourbon as promised. Mouthfeel is crisp (less oily than you might expect) with bitter, dry coffee and warming booze. Very boozy overall but extremely drinkable, and at 14% I’m impressed with how balanced the sweetness is. Excellent!

UPDATED: SEP 16, 2020 A trip to Vegas was fairly uneventful a few weeks ago but I did locate a number of decent beers, Java Cask being high on the list. What’s not to appreciate, imperial stout, bourbon barrel aging and coffee. The label informs of a 10/25/17 born-on date. My Cowtown tulip glass gets the honor this evening for the 12 oz offering. I pour and see a heavy, black entry with a momentary covering of mahogany foam. The scent, in a word, delightful. Molasses, blackberry and a bit of coal. What to do now? Oh yeah, a drink. Wow, mighty fine, bakers chocolate, raspberries, vanilla, oak, bourbon, pie crust and toffee. A bit of a burn, I attribute that’s to the 14.3% abv. First rate, wish I had purchased two bottles. But how do you know?

UPDATED: FEB 6, 2020 On tap at Das Beer Garden. Black and a little transparent at the edges. Smells of bourbon, oak, earthy coffee. Tastes of bourbon, sweet chocolate, coffee, oak. Vanilla and sugar lingers. Big, boozy, heavy, and sweet. But it's very flavorful. I don't often enjoy beers like this, but this is excellent.
