COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Birthday Bomb! was conceived to celebrate three wonderful years of experimentation and fun loving flavors like the current incarnation with caramel sauce. Made in house by our brewers with nothing but black gloves and a propane tank. The rest is the complex mix of hops and malt with a healthy dose of the signature coffee and spices. You know exactly what we’re talking about.

Pinball (14777) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - FEB 22, 2024
UPDATED: FEB 22, 2024 bottle, 13% 2018 version assumed looking at label and crosschecking with untapped. Pours absolutely black with a small dark brown head. roasted malty aroma with notes of coffeee, licorice, wood. very robust aroma. very solid coffe and roasted malty imperial stout, a bit of cake frosting too, but the coffe and roasted malts dominate which I believe is a great thing. there is a little bit of a chili bite but it is almost only there if you look for it, otherwise it would probably come off as just some coffee bitterness. quite balanced but not velvety or super mixed, perhaps the chilies stand out too much for that. pretty good imp stout.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2023 Bottle. Pitch black colour, mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is liquorice, some toasted malts, coffee and some mild fudge and caramel to it. Flavour is liquorice, toffee, coffee, some slight alcohol sweetness with mild chocolate and fudgy sauce to it. Smooth and in a nice balance.

UPDATED: JAN 25, 2023 Dark beer out of the bottle with almost no head. I don't know how old this bottle is. Nose of chocolate and chili. Lots of fudgy chocolate taste with vanilla, some bitter coffee, and a nice warming chili spice. I really like the spicy chocolate beers and this is a tasty one.

UPDATED: JUL 16, 2022 Bottle @ Home. Black in color with a tan head. The peppers come through a bit more than expected, but otherwise bordering on chocolate ice cream. Big time vanilla, chocolate, and sweetened coffee. Toffee is rather pronounced as well. Definitely a sweet beer, but has just enough spice and earthiness of chile peppers that it works. Pretty nice, though standard for Prairie.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2022 2018 Although is nobody's birthday, maybe to take this out of the cellar! On the nose all seems promising: chocolate, chili, vanilla, coffee, bourbon character. Pours dark brown, seems that age made it thinner, as often happens. Minimal head after the pour, which dissipated quickly. Medium bitterness and low sweetness, very roasty, there is coffee first, which changes into dark chocolate, while some chili heat and flavour (moderate) emerges. The bourbon character comes up with the after taste, displaying vanilline from the barrel, and whisky. The heat stays moderate but lingers. Excellent! Full mouthfeel, viscous, maybe lighter than it used to be, but a minimal difference. No carbonation and quite boozy. I have read of some of these bottles from 2018 being gone and became soy sauce, this is not the case. It's still as beautiful as it was, and it has probably grown in intensity. 2017 Cellared goodness, still very aromatic, with coffee, chocolate, wood, vanilla, vegetable notes. Roasty, malty and with a minty touch (I guess due to age). Pours dark brown, lost some darkness with the years, minimal tan head, quick fading. No visible carbonation. Chili comes straight forward, more than I remembered, dark chocolate, coffee to follow, vanilla is subtle and the wood wraps everything perfectly. Awesome. Lost a bit of thickness, but still full bodied, smooth, low carbonation, boozy but the chili heat wraps the booze heat creating a magic armony. Interesting evolution in 5 years, it got thinner and less dark, gained in flavours and sharpness. Awesome brew! 2016 Having this back to back with the (awesome) original Bomb! Not making ranking but these beers are unbelievable. Pours 'very black' (I mean, usually a beer gets black in the glass but pours dark brown, this pours straight black!), creamy, medium not long lasting brown head, not much lacing. Aroma of strong caramel (and I mean real caramelised sugar, not caramalts), roasted malts, vanilla, chocolate and chile. Tastes medium sweet, rich of taste, as on the nose can get roasted malts, vanilla, caramel, chocolate, coffee and some chile ancho, mild. Smooth, creamy, full bodied, soft carbonation, lingering flavour. Masterpiece.

George999 (691) - Colorado, USA - AUG 13, 2020
UPDATED: AUG 13, 2020 Aroma: (malt, hops, Esters, and other aromatics) Dark chocolate mixed with rich malt body, a touch of alcohol noted in the aroma. There is a bright character lifting the aroma and yielding a bright crisp impression. Low levels of stone fruit noted. Appearance: Rich dark brown in color, opaque. The head pours thin but is retained with bare spots but mostly covered and very thin. Texture is tiny bubbles, moderate lacing. Flavor: Rich malt base, strong flavors of dark chocolate, a hint of mint, moderate flavor of raisins. Aside from the slight mint impression also noting a very low citrus from the hops. Balance is malt, the aftertaste is sweet malts with the finish being sweet with a touch of spice. Mouthfeel: Full Mouthfeel, a low level of alcohol warmth but is pleasantly warming, a touch of spice lingering on the back of the throat. Carbonation is high, and yet still the impression from the thick Mouthfeel is slightly creamy initially, but the is cleaned by the carbonation. Overall: A rich, full amazing beer which you want to sip and enjoy slowly. The impression is sweet but the hint of spice and the touch of mint really lifts the body of the beer and encourages you to take another sip.
