jsquire (6993) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - MAY 8, 2024
UPDATED: MAY 8, 2024 Dark beer out of the can with a foamy brown head. Nose of bourbon and coconut. Big flavors of vanilla, chocolate, buttery bourbon and sweet fresh coconut. Strong boozy finish. Really nice beer.

Oakes (30726) - Richmond, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 21, 2024
UPDATED: APR 21, 2024 Dark brown. Thin head. Coffee, barrel, coconut, vanilla, oh my. So the coffee is big in the normal Speedway style, but everything else is amped to try to match that. Rich, a bit boozy, the adjuncts not as prominent on the palate as on the aroma. But still, prominent. Another quality Speedway.

IrishBoy (4716) - Bakersfield, California, USA - APR 6, 2024
UPDATED: APR 6, 2024 16oz can from Alesmith. Nose is Mounds bar, vanilla, with a little coffee. Black with a medium, lightly lacing, cinnamon tan head. Flavor is lightly sweet chocolate with coffee, coconut, vanilla, and a little touch of bourbon.

LilBeerDoctor (7552) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 9, 2024
UPDATED: MAR 9, 2024 On tap. Pours a dark brown with a thin light tan head. Aroma of bourbon barrel, vanilla, chocolate malt, roasted malt. Flavor of bourbon barrel, vanilla, roasted malt. Bourbon is too overpowering, can’t really get much out of this one. 6/4/6/4/12 (3.2/5)

beerplace (8988) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 5, 2024
UPDATED: FEB 5, 2024 16oz shared @ Ryan's with Farees. Appearance: almost black with a beige head. Aroma: American oak, coffee, vanilla, couldn't detect coconut, though. Taste: along the same lines, when it's getting warmer, there is lots of American oak, vanilla, with a coconut incorporated. Thin for 13.2%, though. Overall: good, but it is an outdated IS considering current North America standards for stouts.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2024 Taster at bottle share. Smell malt and bourbon.. Black in color with thin tan head. Taste the malt, bourbon, coconut, and vanilla. Smooth and alcohol is well hidden. Balanced and strong. Sweet malty aftertaste. Super nice beer. Cheers!

MicroGrog (3260) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - JAN 11, 2024
UPDATED: JAN 11, 2024 Pounder from City Swiggers, canned 4/3/23. Haven't had an Alesmith in forever. Baby Duvel glass @home because I can. Sat out for an hour to defrost. A dull black pour with hits of dark brown. Cookie head that cascades but falls too quickly. Boozy bourbon infused chocolate cake, vanilla frosting nose. I wanted a little less of the obvious here & more variables. Frothy upfront & boozy stiff. Light acid. Toasty brown bread & faintly nutty pull. Weak to so-so oxidation. The long finish is all about the coconut grease & a little char. Bittersweet, slightly pithy feel on my tongue on the full stop. Slick at times, but on the thinner side. Don't forget the acid bite. Good carbonation. I think plenty of other breweries copycatted & tuned this recipe over the years that Speedway is no longer a standard. They're cheaper too. Otherwise, it's tasty, but too boozy & lacking nuance.

UPDATED: DEC 30, 2023 Can. Black color with beige head. Aroma is chocolate, coconut, vanilla, sweetish but not overwhelming. Taste is the same, nice toastiness. Silky mouthfeel, fine-bubbled carbonation. Nice!

Lore (6900) - Budapest, HUNGARY - DEC 30, 2023
UPDATED: DEC 30, 2023 dark brown colour, moderate sized dense beige-ish head; aroma and taste of dark chocolate, coconut, some vanilla, soy sauce and coffee notes; really good one!
