UPDATED: MAR 10, 2024 Bottle to snifter, shared with the Mrs (2023 vintage). Pours a fairly opaque very dark (almost dull black) cola with darker beige head that steadily dissipates into lacing. Smells RICH and malty with notes of chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, oak, and a touch of chili spice. Tastes like it smells, but less balanced. Much more bitter on the tongue than the nose, likely from the coffee and chili presence. Mouthfeel is full-bodied, mildly to moderately warming, and moderately bitter. Good, not great. Smells significantly better than it tastes.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2024 Bottle from Cappy's pour opaque black with thin tan head. Nose chocolate, barrel, vanilla, cinnamon, spice. Taste flavors from nose with big spice. Barrel adds some more chocolate and vanilla.

UPDATED: DEC 10, 2023 Draft at Mekong. Pours black with a khaki head. Leaves some lacing in the glass. Nice notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, cocoa, and chile softened around the edges by bourbon. Velvety, smooth with just a small amount of alcohol burn on the finish.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2023 On draft at Dominion. Pours black with a tan head. Aromas are spice and bourbon. Flavors are sweet molasses. Mighty tasty.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2023 Black pour with a tan head and no lacing …. Aroma of ginger, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, spices … very pie like …. Taste is of dry oak, spicy bourbon is light, roasted malts, spices like ginger, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, clove, nutmeg and light chocolate … very dry …. Spices hit you pretty hard on this brew …. Finish has spices, ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon with spicy bourbon and roasted malts …. Much bigger of a beer than the non bbl version … spicy brew … much more depth and body as well … full bodied, slick and oily

UPDATED: NOV 27, 2023 Sample at Churchkey is a translucent deep brown with some spitty beige head, legs.  Nose is huge cinnamon and nutmeg and ginger, malt and cocoa and brown sugar.  Flavor has all the spice, huge ginger and clove and cinnamon and all spice.  All of them.  Full bodied, spicy finish.  Barrel plays so nicely.  Well done.  8 3 9 4 15

UPDATED: NOV 20, 2023 Pours thick black with a thin, dark tan head. Aroma is cocoa, vanilla, whiskey and cinnamon. Taste is chocolate, cinnamon and light brown sugar, moving to coffee, vanilla and light pepper heat. Finish is chocolate, cinnamon, coffee, whiskey and vanilla.

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2023 Bottle from Tavour. Pours very dark brown with a slight tan/brown head. Aroma of cinnamon and chiles. Arguably full bodied. Flavor of cinnamon, chiles, chocolate, heat/whiskey, smooth burnt malt, and a touch of what could be coffee. Not exactly dry nor exactly sweet. A burning in the gullet sensation and hot spice lingers in the finish. It does suggest a Xmas dessert.

UPDATED: DEC 14, 2022 On tap at Prairie OKC, pours jet black with a tiny brown head. Aroma is intense, with loads of coffee, bourbon, chiles and cinnamon in beautiful harmony. Flavour is complex and wonderfully balanced, revealing a wonderful harmony of cinnamon, chocolate, chiles, coffee and whiskey barrels. The sweetness is moderate at best and is held in check wonderfully. This is fantastic.

UPDATED: MAY 19, 2021 Prairie Artisan Ales - Barrel Aged Christmas Bomb Imperial Stout Brewed With Spices And Aged In Whiskey Barrels. Alkohol: 13% obj. Kolor: Czarny jak smoła. Piana: Trzeba się bardzo śpieszyć ze zrobieniem zdjęcia. Piana ucieka tak szybko, że nie sposób ją nawet uchwycić. Zapach: Aromat mocno świąteczny, intensywnie przyprawowy. Gałka muszkatołowa, cynamon, goździk, odrobina pikantnych nutek, coś na kształt chilli, czy innych papryczek. Dalej gorzka czekolada i kawa. Smak: W smaku od groma przypraw: kardamon, gałka muszkatołowa, cynamon. Delikatnie podrapuje w gardle od pikantnych dodatków - czarny pieprz lub papryczki. Trochę nut kawy, czekolady i kakao. Niezbyt dobre ciało. Nawet rzekłbym wodniste. Alkohol chwilami daje się we znaki. Wysycenie: Niskie. Podsumowanie: Prairie Artisian Ale - kiedyś to było coś. Fajne piwka, wspaniałe beczki. Tutaj ani beczki, ani dawnego blasku. Samo piwo zabija swoją przyprawowością, która tłamsi cały charakter trunku. Cynamon, kardamon, gałka muszkatołowa, goździk z elementami kawy, czekolady i kakao. Słabe, trochę alkoholowe, mało przyswajalne.
