COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Meaning “blood of the oak,” Sang du Chêne features sour strong blond and triple ales aged in three large format oak vessels: foudres, puncheons, and hogsheads. The oak influences provide flavors of toasted sugars, vanilla, and spice, complemented by the bright acidity and fruity character of the beer.

pictoman (7325) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 15, 2023
UPDATED: SEP 15, 2023 Poured from the tap (2017 vintage). Hazy golden orange with small white head. Mild tart stone fruit, gentle oak permeates through, mild tartness. Quite nice.

UPDATED: MAR 15, 2023 'Sang du Chêne features sour strong blond and triple ales aged in three large format oak vessels: foudres, puncheons, and hogsheads' (from the label). Aroma of funky sourness, with nappies and barnyard, uncooked bread dough, apricot, spices and oak. Hazy amber, lively carbonation, medium head, soapy and with a good retention, some laces. Very sour, lactic, some sweetness, vanilla, oak, funk (barnyard), spices, apricot and other yellow fruits. A lot of depth and layers. Medium body, tingling carbonation, some astringency, alcohol very well hidden. Standard high quality Cascade, as usual. This offers depth, layers and balance, oaky and dry without fruit additions.

UPDATED: OCT 14, 2022 Bottle shared by rennat42, thanks Tanner. Pour was hazy orange, white head. Aroma of sour fruit, little funk, apricot, citrus, spice. Taste was sour, tart, sweet, sour fruit, apricot/citrus, acidic but in a good way. Very nice.

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2022 Bottle. A- Tangerines, funk, faint vanilla. A- Orange color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Tangerines, vanilla, tangy, oak. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, tangy finish. O- Fruitier than I expected and not too acidic. At 7 years old (2015), this was still pretty good, especially for $6 a bomber knowing how much Cascade usually costs. Lots of citrus and some funk.

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2022 Bottle @ Mike's House. Clear golden beer with a white head. Very much on the sweet side, particularly for Cascade. Mild grass, some oak, apple juice, and sweet grape juice. Has flavors of tart orange, lime, and sweet fruit juice. It's fine.

UPDATED: AUG 6, 2020 On draught at Gourmet Haus Staudt. I'm usually a massive fan of Cascade and this one was a little less to my liking but still tasty. Nice oak throughout the aroma and flavor.

mike_77 (14407) - Breda, NETHERLANDS - JUL 11, 2020
UPDATED: JUL 11, 2020 Clear golden blond colour with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have typical Cascade tart and funk. This style is a good vehicle for that. Well balanced.

UPDATED: MAY 1, 2020 March 15, 2018 - with blankboy, gregclow, jercraigs & mabel - 750ml corked & caged 2015 vintage bottle. Cloudy orange-gold with a decent and lasting fluffy white head. Wow, that aroma - massively funky and sour and woody - oh, the barrel! cognac? yes please - so much happening. Taste is a lovely grape must sour infused oaky lemony sour - hides the alcohol so well - gotta go 9. Acidic tingly mouthfeel, quite airy - medium-long sour tingly shifting finish - so much wine/cognac/grape must/oak in the linger. Spectacular, really.

Beese (17142) - Tooting, London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 12, 2020
UPDATED: JAN 12, 2020 Keg at Mother Kelly’s, Vauxhall. Deep copper. Aroma of huge malt vinegar, booze soaked fruit and oak. Really nice sourness and malty notes.
