COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Inspired by a mutual love of chocolate oranges, 'Til the Night Closes In is an imperial milk stout we created with our good friends at Jester King. We wanted something dark and rich accented by the brightness of fresh citrus, so Jeff and Averie brought up a bunch of dried tangerines and fresh satsuma oranges from central Texas to punch up the Mandarina Bavaria hops in the whirlpool. After fermentation we steeped the beer on cacao nibs, Madagascar vanilla beans, and fresh Valencia orange peel. The result is smooth and sweet with a tart pop of citrus. Enjoy!

UPDATED: APR 26, 2019 On tap @Luppolo Station (Rome). Nera, densa, impenetrabile, schiuma beige media. Al naso note di cioccolato, caffè, arancia candita. In bocca è dolce, con finale amaro leggero a bilanciare. Corpo pieno, leggermente inferiore alle attese, carbonazione media. Mi aspettavo di più.

(Keg at Sori Taproom, 20181126) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had sweetness, liquorice, burnt malts and soy sauce. Palate was full bodied and sticky with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, more sweetness, burnt malts, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A way too sweet brew.

750 ml bottle from the brewery. January 2018 vintage. Pours a cloudy, deep, dark brown, not quite opaque, with a moderate tan head that settles into a thick ring and a little bit of film that doesn’t last. Notes of cacao nibs, roasted malts, toasted sugars, vanilla, tobacco, and just a wee bit of orange zest. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a sweet, mildly roasty mouthfeel. The orange isn’t particularly assertive 10 months out but it’s in great shape. Good stout.
