COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the beginning of 2006 the people behind Denmark's leading beer bar "Ølbaren", the leading beer shop "Ølbutikken" and Ølfabrikken sat down together to plan a beer that was to be only served from tap at Ølbaren and only sold in bottles from Ølbutikken. After a night of drinking it ended up with a massive Russian Imperial Chocolate Stout using ingredients from four continents. South american Cocoa, Asian coffee, North american hops and European malts. Ølfabrikken ØL is, of course, unpasteurized, unfiltered and cask conditioned like all of our beers. Introduced at 'Københavnske Øldage 2006'.

The stout has very limited foam. Good aroma of coffee notes and a little licorice. The flavor also have coffee, English licorice lesser degree and a burned malty flavor with slightly smoky aftertaste. In addition there is good bitter dark chocolate in the finish, which is long lasting and comfortable.

Bottle thanks to BrewtopiaofPJ. Pours oily black with razor thin brown head. Nose and taste of roast chocolate, milk chocolate, fudge brownie, old Baker’s chocolate, old coffee, sherry, port wine and cocoa. Medium bodied. Smooth.

Bottled (received in a trade with Faroeviking, old backlog). More or less thick pitch black colour with a small brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, liquorice, toffee, mild ashes and roast with some slight alcohol as well. Flavour is liquorice, mild alcohol, some chocolate, coffee, mild ashes and some toffeeish notes. Surprisingly thin palate for being 10 %, but still a very lovely beer.

Opaque black beer, Unsweet chocolate and marmite nose. Softish palate, surprisingly light and airy for a big Impy. Rich unsweet dark chocolate with a large marmite streak. Finishes soft and semi dry. The marmite lives on in the aftertaste. Decent but doesn’t match it’s reputation.

Intensiver, cremig malziger Beginn. Deutlich oxidiert, was den Malznoten leider schadet. Süß, rund, weich. Kaffee, weiche Alkoholnoten. Langer, röstig schokoladiger Nachhall. /9/11/11/11/11

(swing top bottle, courtesy of Papsoe) Black coloured hue with a brown and short foamy head. Sweet and strong roast-malty aroma with caramel, liquorice, fruity notes of dried berries, raisins, as well as a tinge of woody hops. Sweet and moderately bitter flavour, full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Aromatic roast-malty base with burnt notes, caramel, coffee and liquorice; long lasting roasty malty finish with a cornucopia of flavours and rounded hoppy and warming alcoholic notes. Very enjoyable indeed. 29.XII.08

500 ml swingtop; thanks Alex!! Pours dense black with trace tan head; big aromas of rich chocolate; drinks quite very thin and ashy; flavors of dry, bitter chocolate and dry malt; some chocolate candies, ashy roast; crazy dry and chalky finish; mild oxidation mixed with the burnt malts and creamy chocolate; pretty nice overall
