A Taste of the Good Life
Renamed from The Rev James when the Rev James range expanded to include Gold and Rye.
Originally brewed by Crown Buckley as Reverend James Original Ale, the brand was kept by Brains when they acquired Crown Buckley in 1998. Initially still badged as Buckleys, it became unbadged, simply known as The Rev. James.
The beer is named after the founder of Buckley’s Brewery, the Reverend James Buckley (1770 – 1839). It is brewed to a traditional recipe and has been described as having a flavour not commonly available these days. Full-bodied and warming, The Rev. James is rich in palate, spicy and aromatic with a deeply satisfying finish.

mcberko (41838) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 8, 2023
UPDATED: NOV 8, 2023 On cask at City Arms, pours a clear copper with a small beige head. Aroma brings out English bready malt, a hint of toasted caramel, and toasted nuts. Flavour is smooth, with bready malt, toasted nuts, and light herbal/fungal notes. Nothing wrong here, just has that common fungal character. Fine.

huineman (1363) - Madrid, SPAIN - SEP 30, 2023
UPDATED: SEP 30, 2023 Pint at Owain Glyndwr, Cardiff. Some potato skins aside. A clear reddish copper pour with a beige thick head, much to my surprise (thought it'd have no head whatsoever.) Not really aromatic: just a hint of earth, a tad of clay, some read berries's distant memories and you're done. Dry, not too crisp mouthfeel (this is served at room temperature.) No big faults, though. Bitterish, medium-lasting finish. Forgettable.

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2023 Cask @ Royal George, Pembroke. Clear copper-amber with a glow and a creamy head. Malty aroma and taste, with a few caramels in the mix in the latter. Very traditional brew.
