Pretty forgettable, bland and insipid, but otherwise one of Monteiths’ best beers. If this is available, you’re in the wrong bar

Tap. Pours a deep red colour, aroma is fruity and malty, the taste has some malt and fruit with a dry fruity finish.

Very dry aroma. Rich ruby red colour with ok head. Very nice caramel, toffee and malt flavours of coffee in the finish. Medium body with medium to high carbonation.

MRMedellin (416) - Bogota, COLOMBIA - MAY 31, 2014
Clear amber copper beer with a small head, not too much aroma actually, just some fruity notes and grain ones, but is nothing special. Once is tasted the body is light, with a watery texture and a light hops flavor. As well as the ones I have tried from this brewery, the malt flavor is not really evident, and actually the flavor is a bit similar to the Monteits Original Ale

From Tap in Fox Glacier. Beer served in Glacier temperature, perfect, I don’t want to wait for an hour.... The head is medium, body darkred-brown. It smells malty, bt hoppy, flowery. The taste is malty, flowery, ambermalty, mild. Bit boring, but drinkable.

chinchill (6216) - South Carolina, USA - DEC 21, 2013
From tap to mug in Franz Josef, NZ. Pours very clear reddish-brown with a durable beige head leaving patches of sticky lacing on the glass. Aroma and flavor: clean, light malty aroma and flavor with some spicy hops and hints of caramel and nuts. Feel: Medium-light body with crisp medium-high carbonation. O: well-crafted and balanced, although a bit too light on malt.

picked up in Melbourne (so not sure if there is a difference, possibly just the packaging). Nice and drinkable, (from the stubby) - lightly carbinated (small bubbles) , i get a (raspberry?) aroma, (have a light cold so could be why) - not the best red ale I have had, but definately no the worst. Quite drunkable (could see me having 1/2 doz)

not much of an aroma, flavour a little bit of red berries on a sea of lightly bitter wash. very light as expected. fairly bland but drinkable.

Maris (3427) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - FEB 28, 2013
From a 330ml bottle on 28/2/2013. Pours a clear medium amber with a largish head. Not much to the aroma, just some mild malt tones. The flavour is okay, but relatively muted, with some sweet toffee, a bit of toast, and some stone fruit. The bitterness is light and the carbonation medium. Drinkable but far from exciting.
