The Dog and Fig NEIPA
Aroma: High fruitiness, melon. Medium-high resin, pine. Appearance: Hazy, golden body. Small, white head. Good retention. Flavour: Medium-high bitterness. Medium-high fruity, melon, resin. Dry finish, bitter, resin. Mouthfeel: Medium body, medium carbonation. Overall: A very impressive IPA, but not an NEIPA. Too bitter (or lacking support for the bitterness), and needs more body. 500 ml, on tap. Thanks Sean! 21B. Specialty IPA: NEIPA

The Dog and Fig Vyl Ale
A: Light cloudy straw with a small white head N: Some bitterness and a faint nutmeg note T: Slightly astringent. A faint garlic note in the background and plenty of hop bitterness. Some grassiness as well. P: Thin O: These flavours really don’t appeal to me.

Dog and Fig Baldadige Buchu
A: Amber-brown with no head N: Citrus, caramel and amber malts T: Sweet, mint, tree bark, orange zest and a bitter finish P: Thin O: The taste of buchu in a beer is bound to divide drinkers, but I quite like it. The beer lacked carbonation, however, which is an issue.

Dog and Fig Alternatiewe Alt
A: Reddish brown with no discernible head N: Caramel T: Roasted coffee and polished leather. P: Medium O: The taste combination is certainly very tasty, but the roastiness may be a tad too heavy for the style. Carbonation is also an issue.

Awesome, on tap or in the bottle. Strong and unique flavours from the Buchu will rock your socks off, so will the 7% alcohol content, although that will probably go unnoticed until a few have been knocked back.

Pours dark brown with no head. Complex aroma of nuts, wood, floral noble hops, caramel, basement and earth. Slick palate. Aftertaste is toffee, wood, noble hops, dark chocolate and lingering caramel finish. Overall: WOW! What a sipper! Probably got a bottle who was not yet carbonated, but still so enjoyable. Complex stuff! Definitely one of ZA best beers and i must bring one home to Norway.

Excellent black appearance with brown head. Aroma is roasted, chocolate and some vanilla. Very smooth Creamy guinness mouthfeel with low carbonation. Aftertaste is full with bitter chocolate and floral hops. Overall: impressive! Can compete with the big boys. - more thoughts- tap at beer house. Wow. Surely one of south africas best beers. Must bring home to norway. -Even more thoughts!- Finally got this in a bottle. Wow, speechless. Had to try black tokyo horizon before this one to know that i was not just raving. The aroma is much more woody in the bottle. Its so slick with a great full aftertaste with loads of noble hops. A real WOW beer and the absolutely sickest stout at this abv i have ever tried.
