2.8 Green Leaf Weizenhower Halfwisen [now listed as “Wisenhower Wheat”… make up your damn mind on the name, geez!]. Poured from the tap (now listed as 5% abv). Cloudy orangey yellow with small white head. Lots of esters, hint of clove and banana, wheat. Inoffensive. Monday, March 21, 2022

3.1 Green Leaf Raspberry Sour A 7 oz serving at the brewery, in a small signature glass. A bright translucent reddish purplish color with a modest white head, pronounced raspberry nose. Simple sour raspberry on the palate. A decent compliment to my late morning almond chocolate waffle, otherwise okay. Thursday, October 21, 2021

3.1 Green Leaf Taste of Czech Pilsener Medium clear gold body and okay foam. Soft pilsner sweetness on the nose, not bad but not too bright. Taste is mellow chewy malt, soft caramel, crisp but missing a good real pilsner snap. Okay, adequate, forgettable. Saturday, September 18, 2021

2.6 Green Leaf Apple Sour Light amber, decent tartness but fusel sort if wonkiness as well, same as all their sours. Thursday, October 31, 2019

2.7 Green Leaf Cherry Sour Sweeter cherry, pale pink, a bit wonky, lactic but also that not great je ne sais quoi that all greenleaf beers seem to have. Thursday, October 31, 2019

1.9 Green Leaf 8th Sin Muddy orange body, okay foam but it is gone very quickly and very thin. Smells definitely of wit and grapefruit but coming across as overly acidic. The grapefruit juice isn't doing any favours for the Belgian wit and basically a pile of acidity overpowers. Would work with fatty foods where you don't want to taste the beer. Nothing sweet nor refreshing here, too bitter and nothing to remember. Tuesday, August 27, 2019

2.7 Green Leaf Hazy Shore IPA Nice cloudy light orange and good foam, big skunk cabbage on the nose. Flavour is meaty hops, kind of vegetably, with not much to call it redeeming. Good carbonation though. A very non-sweet IPA where it seems there should be many. Friday, July 19, 2019

2.6 Green Leaf Cherry Sour Mellow gold body and essentially no head. Aroma is dried fruit skin. Flavour is sweet fruit with only a hint of sourness. Yeast prominent throughout not very interesting in their ouevre of sours. On tap at the brewery. Saturday, October 20, 2018

2.8 Green Leaf Peach Sour Green leaf's got a lot of sours, at least I gotta say that. This has a darker pink body and almost no foam. The aroma is vague fruitiness however nothing is prominent. The flavour is mellow peach, a bit of yeast sharpness and sourness in between. Slightly wet finish. Not bad but not as bright as it coule be. Saturday, October 20, 2018

2.5 Green Leaf Kombucha Beer Lemon ginger flavour at the brewpub if it matters, they may have some other flavours but given the intransigence of this brewery (yes I said it) maybe that doesn't matter. This has a clear gold body with no foam and smells like ginger iced tea. The flavour is more sweet iced tea with sugary notes. A very sweet iced tea experience. At least there's alcohol here to help you forget that you're drinking iced tea. Saturday, October 20, 2018

3 Green Leaf Blackberry Sour Modest ruby copper body and no foam. Aroma is nice big yeast and funky cherry. Flavour is big yeast with some sour cherry on the back end. Which is great but the mouthfeel is a little thin. There's some good stuff going on here but it just needs more. Saturday, October 20, 2018
DeanF |
2.6 Green Leaf LoLo Stout Modest brown body with just a bit of foam. Aroma is soft roasted barley. Flavour is mellow roasted barley with a watery finish. Average and adequate for a porter. Saturday, October 20, 2018
DeanF |
2.5 Green Leaf Bitter Leaf IPA Modest copper body and a hint of offwhite foamy head. No aroma to speak of, or at least it isn't strong enough. Flavour is mellow malt with a vague hint of hops. Medium finish. Maybe it's an okay IPA but it does not stand out in any way. Saturday, October 20, 2018

3.1 Green Leaf Pie Hole Nice copper body and just a bit of white foam. Soft malt aroma with some sharp whisky notes. Flavour is a lot of sharp malt with a medium to dry finish. I like the overdone malts, and therefore I like the pale ale. Saturday, October 20, 2018
DeanF |
3.3 Green Leaf Raspberry Sour Nice clear ruby body without much foam. Smells like raspberries for sure, not too sweet but hints of fruity freshness. Flavour is a nice sharp sour raspberry with just a bit of sugar and a slightly wet finish. Well defined and certainly drinkable. Saturday, October 20, 2018

3.1 Green Leaf Weizenhower Halfwisen On tap at Lonsdale Quay. Has a nice foggy darker yellow body with minimal foam. The aroma is that of a steamed hot dog weiner. Flavour is big wheat dough with some carbonated finish. Not a bad wheat beer after all. Saturday, October 20, 2018

1.7 Green Leaf Bronze Age On tap at their brewery in the quay. Has a dark clear copper body with just a bit of foam. No aroma. Flavour is soft brown sugar, mellow finish. There is very little to like about this one. Saturday, October 20, 2018

2.3 Green Leaf Les Saisonniers On tap at the brewery. Hazy dull amber with a medium head. Light aroma of saison yeast. Very yeasty on the palate, and thin. Malts are almost missing, but so are the hops. Definitely subpar. Sunday, July 29, 2018

2.5 Green Leaf Azacca Cadabra ISA Dullish amber, just a slight haze. Thick head. Not a whole lot of azacca on the nose, just a vague breadiness. Moderate bitterness, husky, some general esters...not an impactful hop signature. Hmmm. To me, this needs not just a brighter hop character but a brighter malt character. 2.2 Green Leaf Blackberry Sour On tap at Green Leaf, pours a hazy dark red with a tiny head. Aroma reveals tart blackberries, some pith and a touch of butyric. Flavour is similar, with butyric, a hint of wild yeast, and tart berries. Rather acetic and acidic, with barely any depth. This isn’t good at all. Thursday, November 23, 2017

3.2 Green Leaf Azacca Cadabra ISA On tap at Green Leaf, pours a hazy copper golden with a small white head. Aroma is reveals subdued floral hops, biscuity malt, and some earthy notes. Flavour reveals piney and floral hops, some toasted caramel and bready malt. Very soft on the palate, with a solid hop expression. Decent. Thursday, November 23, 2017

3.4 Green Leaf LoLo Stout A solid stout. Nice full body with a large brown head. Aromas of molasses, caramel and roasted malt. The flavors were bit subdued compared to the aromas but decent nonetheless. Wednesday, October 11, 2017

3.1 Green Leaf Dark Saison - Red Wine Barrel Cloudy, med brown. Thin head. Touch brett, touch vinous nose. Soft body, dark sugars, hint of red wine. Light alcohol late. Nice balance, actually. Though even with age the malts are a bit husky. Thursday, January 12, 2017

2.3 Green Leaf Blackberry Sour Hazy, darkish purple-brown. Wonky, it has a hint of something unpleasant, prob butyric, along with fairly harsh acetic, and berryish sweetness. Not awful, but give it time and it could be Thursday, January 12, 2017

3.1 Green Leaf Peach Sour Cloudy, no head, peachy colour. Tart, brett, sweet peach, touch candyish. Ends up on the sweeter side. Ok. A bit wonky in the finish but nothing to worry about Thursday, January 12, 2017

2.2 Green Leaf Dry-Hopped Kettle Sour On tap at Green Leaf, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma brings out subdued floral hopping and a hint of buried lacto. Flavour is quite acetic, with a weird jumble of notes, including some copper-like metallic notes, some vinegar, light floral hopping and some strange dental clinic notes. What a mess. Not the worst out there, but it’s skirting the line of undrinkability. Tuesday, November 29, 2016
mcberko |
2.8 Green Leaf Peach Sour On tap at Green Leaf, pours an opaque cloudy peachy orange with a tiny white head. Aroma brings out peach skins, light acidity and some lacto-like tartness. Flavour is very much along the same lines, with very tart and acidic peach skins, with lacto sourness further back. Not a refined or clean sour by any means. Not terrible, but this is very amateurish. Tuesday, October 18, 2016
mcberko |
2.9 Green Leaf Experimental Lager On tap at Green Leaf, pours a hazy golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out lager yeast, some corn and straw. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of dry bready malt, lager yeast, some corn and light straw. Not overly exciting and a bit messy, but not too bad. Meh. Tuesday, October 18, 2016

3.7 Green Leaf Dark Dry-Hopped Lager On tap at Green Leaf, pours black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out lots of roasted malt and piney dry hopping upfront, smelling like a hoppy American stout. Flavour is rich and robust, with loads of roasted malt and dry piney hopping dominating in unison. Some light dark fruitiness in there as well. Loads of depth and rich without being abrasive. Really good. Tuesday, October 11, 2016

3.4 Green Leaf Dark Saison - Red Wine Barrel On tap at the brewery. Pours an opaque almost black color with a small brown head. Aroma is barrel, vinous, fermented berries acidity, roasted malt, some chocolate and acetone notes. Taste is fermented berries with ACETONE notes. Damn acetone bomb! :-/ Roasted malt notes aftertaste, which you can quite easy recognize after acetone is gone. Would be a perfect beer with no (or at least on appropriate level) acetone, but... 3.8 Green Leaf Modern Gentleman - Merlot On tap at the brewery. Pours a hazy straw golden with a strong beige head. Aroma is very complex: vinous, sweet grape, flowery notes - fantastic! Taste is very woody, wild yeasts, hoppy bitterness. Woody, hoppy bitterness aftertaste. Very interesting and good stuff, despite too much wood in the taste (that’s why the overall and taste marks have been decreased). Tuesday, October 4, 2016

3.6 Green Leaf Raspberry Sour On tap at the brewery. Pours a red tomato color with raspberry pulp and no head. Aroms brings out loads of tart raspberry. Sour taste has the same character with an average level of acidity. Refreshing, good. Tuesday, October 4, 2016
