This proved to be a particularly malty beer, as the style should be. Roasty, quite nutty with hints of liquorice and cocoa. Easy on the palate. Good beer. Saturday, April 6, 2024
ladnewton	3.9 Phipps NBC Foundry Mild Bottle on 29th November 2023, gift from a good friend. Pours deep ruby to black with tan foam and spot lacing. Rich and smooth malty aroma. Chunky maltiness in-mouth with roastiness and savoury notes of cooked brassicas. A lengthy, roasty malt finish with grassy hop notes. Medium body and a smooth mouthfeel. Satisfying and flavoursome. Aroma is fruity, citrus, malt, pineapple flan. Quite sweet with light to moderate bitterness. Moderate body, oily, average to soft carbonation. Light drying finish. Pretty good. jjsint	3.3 Phipps NBC Cobbler's Ale Gravity cask at the Real Ale Classroom, Stoneygate, Leicester. Reddish brown with a little bit of a chestnut hue, clear with a small deposit of off-white head and a touch of natural carbonation. Nutty aroma, forest floor, some lightly fruited toffee. Balanced taste with an astringent bitterness cutting out any initial sweetness. Slight oily body, soft carbonation. Kind of a bitter by numbers although a very good one. Thursday, May 11, 2023

It's got a gentle oaky aroma, some malty notes, a little bit astringent. Sweet, malty taste with some sticky berry character. Some light bitterness near the finish but it's mostly a sweet beer.
