Further Personal Perceptions : -A clinging sheet of foam decorates the coppery mahogany. -Fruity edges add diversity. -Malts seem to provide more sugar than actual malt flavors. -The flavor profile is not really cohesive, but it remains flavorful throughout. MartinT	3.5 Unionsbräu Helles My Bottom Line : Bananas(?!), hay and herbal hops coalesce in this sugary, fruity unfiltered lager. Further Personal Perceptions : -A sticky sheet of foam covers the veiled blond. -This sure tastes like the yeast was given conditions to express itself moreso than in most lagers. -Hops are subtle but present throughout. -This is a pleasant pint, but it tends to get sweeter than average as you reach the bottom. Nickls	2.7 Unionsbräu Helles Tap at the brewpub. Two fingers of white frothy head; hazy dark sunflower hue. Lots of grass and hay in the aroma with a touch of grain. Nickls	3 Unionsbräu Maibock Tap at the source, May ’10. Three fingers of creamy pure white head; semi-cloudy vibrant orange. Aroma is grainy, yeasty, bready, and malty. Bit earthy and some graininess continues to the flavor. Needs some clearning up, but still not horrible with some light fruity maltiness as well. Just a bit messy and bland. Monday, March 21, 2011
Bierkrug	4.2 Unionsbräu Unimator Part of the great Munich Beer Raid 2010. On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy red brown color with a thick off white head. Aroma is ginger cookie dough and spices. Taste is very sweet and is much like those Winter ginger cookies. Palate is also sweet and soft. This beer goes down way too easy. Very different and good brewpub craft beer!! Oakes	2.4 Unionsbräu Helles Hazy tan-straw with a thick head. Quite rustic on the nose. Cidery, rustic palate...malts fade to yeasty notes and light diacetyl with hints of cider. Not as bad as that sounds, but it’s definitely on the wrong side of rustic. Sunday, July 19, 2009

Beershine	2.7 Unionsbräu Helles Draft @ brewpub. Hazy golden amber with thick long lasting white head. Strange aroma is citrusy and not like most helles. Yeasty and a little sour. Jukkabro	3.5 Unionsbräu Altmünchner Dunkel Deep dark red colored with little light brown head. Rich chocolaty-caramelly aroma with some winous note, rich fruits with pear also here, good one. Medium bodied. Flavor is also rich with chocolate and nuts, somehow artificial touch with still this positive wine note. Aftertaste lasts with nuts and drying hops, I like this brewery. Jukkabro	3.6 Unionsbräu Helles Dark yellow colored with cloudy appearance. Little white head. Handmade yeasty-flowery aroma with some with some interesting herbal spiciness. Medium bodied. Flavor is also excellent with same handmade touch dominating, flowers and yeast. Good unfiltered touch here. Aftertaste has some butter with this Danish flowery-yeast and hops. Excellent. DruncanVeasey	3.3 Unionsbräu Altmünchner Dunkel Quite a light-bodied, mild-like dunkel. Clear chesnut with a beige collar. Slightly farty vegetal nutty malz aroma, marzipan as it warms, hint of Marmite. Crumbled biscuit, mostly nutty malt, some marzipan. Tastes a bit like a slightly gravyish, caramelised tinned supermarket bitter. In a good way. Same herbally, hopfig background as the helles, but much less so. Friday, June 13, 2008

Massive barrelly, cedary hop aroma heavy with wood and resins. The most brazenly piney, varnishy, hop-accented hell of the trip. Exactly like licking a freshly polished table. Or a tree. Fin	3.8 Unionsbräu Helles On tap at Unionsbrau, Munchen, Germany, 26-01-08 This was very good slightly sweet but refreshing, especially after so many Doppelbocks on this trip (many of these I’d had more than once). There was a hoppy bitterness on the nose along with some caramel, poured golden in colour with white bubbly head. Tasted soft in the mouth, lacked the bitterness in the mouth, but was a little hoppy and fruity, enjoyed this. Thursday, January 31, 2008

Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (flowers, apricot, resin), with a note of pear. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Supposedly a rather fresh-hop batch, and that does seem to show in the nose from that sappy "green" hop smell. Kinda tart for me too. Ok, but I preferred the dunkel. Monday, January 21, 2008

JorisPPattyn	3.3 Unionsbräu Altmünchner Dunkel Draught Foxy-dark chestnut; very dense, nearly sprayed head. A bit sweet (just a whiff of a touch of diacetyl), malts reign sovereignly, just a little caramel & plywood. Very typical dark-coloured malts, leafy & earthy and also quite sweet, but in a bready, good way, like baked dessert dough. Quite slick, medium bodied. Qutie nice, if sweet. Good Dunkles, anyhow.
