Join us as we feature the ONLY firkin in DC of the brand new Stillwater Artisanal-Mikkeller collaboration: Our Side, A Collaborative Gypsy Ale! The two pioneers of the bourgeoning gypsy brewer movement, Brian Strumke, the Baltimore-based brewer behind Stillwater Artisanal, and Mikkel Borg Bjergsø, Copenhagen’s first son of gypsy brewing, have created a hybrid of their two Stateside Ales: Stillwater’s Stateside Saison and Mikkeller’s Stateside IPA. The result is Our Side, with tons of American hop character from Mikkel’s side and wonderful herbal, peppery, and brightly fruity flavors from Brian’s Saison yeast strain!
Only three other spots in three other locales, Baltimore, New York and Northern Virginia (at our sister bar Rustico Ballston), will be previewing this brew on cask that night!
ChurchKey’s event promises to be the most singular of the bunch, as we will not only pour the standard version of Our Side on cask, but also three other cask variations of Our Side! One cask will be dry-hopped with Simcoe hops, one with Columbus hops, and one even has some French Oak chips in the cask. Come on out to taste four variations on the Our Side theme.
Oh, and we almost forgot to mention that one of the movers-and-shakers behind this collaboration, Brian Strumke himself, will be tippling along with us at ChurchKey all night long!
