29th Old Ale Festival at The White Horse

Details

Running for three days you can expect to see over 60 beers covering historic styles such as; barley wine, mild, stout, porter, old ale, strong ale and winter warmers. The special one off brew, ‘Not So’, created in 2009 will make a re-appearance at this year’s festival.
This year we have managed to get some very special one off brews in cask. Stuart Howe, the head brewer at sharps, has created a 3yr old Massive ale. The massive ale has big, sweet flavours with a dry smooth finish for a 10% beer. Ascot has developed his penguin porter, the emperor penguin packs a punch at 7%. Aged in a rum hogs head barrel for a year this beer has all the chocolate malt flavour with an alcoholic undertone and a small hop character. With breweries from Scotland such as Black Isle and William Bros. Breweries from wales such as Otley and Bragdy Nant. Breweries in England such as Harvey’s, Fullers, Ascot, Thornbridge and more. Always looking to provide education, upstairs at the white horse will be holding free seminars on Sat the 26th by renowned brewers from all over the country. As for entertainment, the weekend is packed. With Live acts every night, morris dancers, coopers, bar billiards, shuffleboard and much more. The Hog roast will be served on the Saturday alongside some very old traditional recipies on our specials board.
