The Tulsa Press Club is taking its annual beer tasting to the ballpark for one long eighth-inning stretch.


The eighth edition of the First Draft is set for 5:30-9 p.m. Friday November 2nd on the Refinery Deck of the Tulsa Drillers’ ONEOK Field.

Here’s what to expect: more than 75 beers - many from the region’s best brewers, as well as hard-to-find and highly rated labels.

This is an event that state brewers praise as being for serious beer lovers. It’s large enough to attract brewers but small enough to give them plenty of time to talk beer with attendees.

Event participants include Marshall Brewing, Choc Beer, and Coop Ale Works. Prairie Artisan Ales will be debuting their new beer with us along with Black Mesa. Participants from FOAM-Fellowship of Oklahoma Ale Makers bring their best as well.

Plenty of ballpark-style treats will be available, such as hot dogs, pretzels and bratwurst.

Sponsors include Cherokee Nation Businesses, Osage Casino, Espo Fire and Water Restoration, SJS Hospitality, Jackson Technical, Walsh Branding, Longbow Asset Management, World Publishing Co., Urban Tulsa, Crumpton Aviation, McNellie’s Group, High Gravity, Choc, Coop, and Marshall Brewing Co.

Proceeds help support the Tulsa Press Club and its mission to promote journalism in the state and to fund communications scholarships for area college students.

The Tulsa Press Club is a nonprofit organization with a century-long history in Tulsa, funding more than $400,000 in journalism scholarships in the past five years alone.

Tickets are $45 in advance or $80 for couples.

Single tickets can be purchased for $55 at the door. The price of admission includes a commemorative pint glass and food.
