Pour the Core: Long Island

Details

With the renewed interest in eating and drinking local, it is no wonder that ciders are following in the wildly popular footprints of craft beer, and often compared to wine. Today we see that hard ciders and perries (cider made from pears) are enjoying quite a renaissance here in the United States.

This event will showcase the finest locally-produced and internationally-sourced ciders – more than 30 in all – being sampled on the picturesque grounds of the Peconic Bay Winery in Cutchogue, Long Island, New York.

The event will feature local favorites (including Peconic Bay Winery’s True Believer, a sparkling apple cider and one of the first to hail from Long Island), best-selling U.S. produced ciders (including Angry Orchard, McKenzie’s and Woodchuck), and a variety of imported ciders and perries from England, Ireland, and Sweden.

The event will take place outdoors, under tents, nestled into the beautiful fall foliage on the grounds of the winery. The event will take place rain or shine (no refunds). Food (not included in ticket price) will be available for purchase. Parking is free.

There will also be music and special seminars about cider, the making of cider, and the enjoyment of cider. The event will help raise funds for the Beer For Brains Foundation and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Visit the charity page to find out more about these great foundations. A sell-out is expected so buy your tickets early. Once the event sells out, no additional tickets will be available.
