Celebrate the 11th Annual Des Moines Oktoberfest held in the heart of downtown. Th event is held on the doorstep of Hessen Haus - Des Moines only German restaurant and Bier Hall. Oktoberfest is popular with Iowans of all ages with the live music, polka lessons, bier gardents, and authentic German food.
Tickets are $10 per day and include a commemorative Oktoberfest mug. Those who bring their mug back on Saturday will receive $5 admission that day.
A new rooftop VIP beer garden is being added to the festival grounds this year. VIP tickets are $40 per night and include:
- admission to the festival
- access to the VIP rooftop beer garden
- commemorative glass Oktoberfest half liter stein
- one beer or cocktail
- dedicated beer maidents to serve drinks and food
Only 300 tickets will be sold per night for the Audi Des Moines VIP rooftop beer garden.
Zooktoberfest will kick off the weekend on Thursday, September 25th at the Blank Park Zoo.
The Tapping of the Golden Keg will take place Friday at 4pm which will officially mark the commencement of the event with free beer for all in attendance and be used for a giant group toast.
Friday night will host the annual Bier Maiden contest with the Stein Holding competition (including a Celebrity Round) on Saturday night. Prizes will also be given to those who dress in traditional German attire for the event.
