I was guessing the next style would be braggott, rauchbier, or maibok but alas railer/shandy, and yes my original thread didn’t spell things out at first. |
Originally posted by Jow On maibock specifically that is heller bock. The reason there’s no split there is that the practice of brewing pale bock for may is strictly a southern Bavarian thing. In Franconia, pale bocks are normally released in fall. There is no difference to which one can point between them, other than the timing of their release. The idea got out there, based on what people did in Munich, that maibock was the entire story of pale bock, but it’s not. So we use heller bock to reflect a more accurate understanding of pale bock not as strictly a springtime beer. Rauchbier we have discussed. I’m curious where people think Schlenkerla Eiche would go, actually, since rauchbier would strictly be a beech-smoked lager. |
several years ago ’blonde ale’ was a style covering low boost golds .. i would also like to see this split |
American session IPA vs English session IPA |

White IPA needs a split just like Black and session. |
It has been 77 for quite a while. No biggie, just another style to try. |
