I think... |
If I’m ever fortunate enough to visit Belgium, I will not go there. I’ll probably be spending most of my time in Watou anyway. |
Can I review it on RB without going there? |
While I agree with the general sentiment thus far, I do think it unfair of Jean Van Roy to criticize the City of Brussels’s support of lambic and traditional beer, given this being publicized mere months ago: |
Originally posted by craftycarl21 You do have a point, agreed, but the problem with the Beer Temple vastly transcends Cantillon. The transformation from the old "Bourse" to this beershowcase has been done with money and goodwill from the Brussels’ government and city, and is a plaything in the hands of the big players... ABInbev, Heineken, etc., as if they needed such thing... |
I totally agree with the above, it’s just hard not to point out the Cantillon disconnect considering he’s directly quoted in the short article about Beer Temple. |
Money talks. |

Horrible. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Joris. |
Originally posted by FatPhil That is just ridiculous & I dislike Titanic. As for the “Belgian Beer Tempe” thing, I think that we all saw this happening. I do think that the main focus here is stimulating the economy & not promoting beer history or culture so from that angle, their choice makes perfect sense. |
I want to see the inside of the building though: seen it from the outside so many times. Flagstaff and La Cirio on either side, La Becasse just around the corner, late night Pommes to the back. |
