I am traveling from Columbus up to Marquette, MI at the end of the month. We have decided to leave Thursday afternoon after work to break up the drive and figured we should plan our stop around a brewery or restaurant. We want to get past Detroit and are looking for somewhere to stop between there and Saginaw. Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated. |
Check out Kuhnhenn in Warren Michigan. |
Ya dont know how far you want to veer off i75 but those are the two best. Griffin Claw is worth a stop too and is right on your way. |
Originally posted by OKBeerFan Been to kuhnhenn a few times before. I am considering schramms. Any newer places worth checking out? |
Bastone Brewing in Royal Oak,MI just won a Gold Medal for "Best Small Brewpub" at GABF last year. While, it is probably still in the midst of the Detroit-traffic you wanted to avoid, it’s worth a stop for dinner. (And, it would put in the neighborhood of Schramm’s as well) |
Oh yea, I forgot to mention Cognition Brewing in Ishpeming. |
Schramm’s is the only must-stop IMO, but Witch’s Hat and Griffin Claw are worth a stop too if you’re in the area. Dragonmead is an option too. |
If in royal oak pass hard on bastone. Place is a joke. 4 beers on tap and 2 were very off. Try river Rouge instead. |
Anyone been to tenacity brewing in flint? There is no info on here about them at but it seems to have some potential. |
Originally posted by bgburdman9 No but [insert joke about Flints water here]. Also flint is an awful shithole. But redwood lodge cleaned up at gabf one year. Tenacity seems like its worth a shot |
