Well, 90% of the posts are complaining about the valuations of the bottles he stole, the other 10% are incorrectly naming the person as a joke...pretty typical RB thread. I’d still like to know who the dude is; the OP said he’s a RB member, which he obviously would be.

OP asked if he was a member, but didn’t use correct punctuation.

So let’s try to clear up some questions. As far as value estimates go, the papers got it right and wrong. The police based the value of some of the beers on what this guy actually sold them for on eBay (Isabelle). Of course that’s not the original value of the beer, but its what someone actually paid to get it. It appears the papers and other news outlets took that value and sorta ran with it. They applied that value to many other varieties that are worth a lot, but not that much. The hard part on estimating these values is that they are constantly changing. Some of the beers were the last of their kind in existence. It’s clear that some values were overblown, but there’s no conspiracy here people. As far as why Avery had Isabelle? Well Adam Avery was one of the 5 brewers to create that collaboration. This guy raided Adam’s personal cellar and took 50+ cases as well as some pins and half barrels. Some of the beers were made by Avery and some were gifts he had been given by friends in the industry. Apparently there is evidence to show that this thief tried to sell the beer not only online, but also directly in the market in Colorado.

Which? I think a statement like this vastly underestimates the hoarding talents of the beer community.

Also, about those Rogue bottles... http://rogue.com/store/products/XS-Old-Crustacean-Barley-Wine-Vintage-Vertical-3-Decades.html#

This is a fact that can not be overemphasised

One, it sucks that such a theft would mean a betrayal of (I guess) a cool employer that must value a reasonably trusting relationship with its employees for this to even occur, security-wise.

Two, what a dumb-ass way to get a criminal record for a few thousand measly bucks. All pending conviction of course.

Avery must already treat its employees fairly well, with some decent product access so what a dumb thing to fuck that up.
