Hi All,

I’m revising/udating my "Buying Beer Online" page on the Tokyo Food Page website. It’s been up for quite a few years, but the last update was well over two years ago.

http://www.bento.com/rev/beeronline.html

So far, I’ve been able to add four general-purpose beer shopping sites (and have removed one). I’ve also added 41 microbreweries with online shops (and removed eight).

If you have time, could you take a look at the page and let know of any good beer shopping sites (for shipping within Japan) that I’ve missed? I’m hoping to finish the revisions by the end of November.

Thanks,

Nevitt

I just wrote an article on Buying Beer Online in the last Beer Zen.

The only thing I noticed is that Baird Beer’s shopping site is now outsourced via Yahoo Shopping and completely in Japanese. You can read about the beers in English but no longer purchase them that way.

Also Amazon.co.jp has tons of beer these days.

Other than that it’s a good updated list.

Antenna America is not listed!? That is like the best place to score good beer online in Japan.

Sorry all, I should have mentioned that the current "Buying Beer Online" page is the out-of-date one (from 2012) that I am trying to update.

Thanks, TimE. I will certainly add the Antenna America mail order page.

Thanks, KBL. I did see your article a few weeks ago and have "appropriated" a few things from it. I am aware that Baird no longer has an English-language shopping site.

I just bought 6 bottles of beer from Rakuten Japan. Since most of the sellers there didn’t provide international shipping. I have to find Japan forwarding shipping service provider by myself. But the result is... shipping fee is higher than the beer cost. And there is one more problem. Some sellers said their beer must be stored in low temperature (e.g. Fujizakura Kogen), so their beer may be not suitable for buying aboard.

No we are not.

The "Buying Beer Online" page is primarily intended for residents of Japan, so they can obtain beers (both Japanese and imports) that are not easily available in their local Japanese liquor shops.

I’m sure that the high international shipping costs would make using the page too expensive for anyone living outside Japan.

Got a new one for you. Apologies if you’ve got it already, but couldn’t see it mentioned. World Beer Market in Kitasenju. They have a webshop. Was there today and was very impressed with their selection of Japanese breweries.

They recently rebranded you can see in the link they were Sake Taniguchi suddenly they are World Beer Market with more of a beer focus...

but yeah add them on RB, I never did as I haven’t been to their physical shop but been buying from them on rakuten for years.
