I need to rate an unblended Lambic, a mild ale, a strong pale lager/imperial pils and a traditional ale to fulfill a childhood dream - and get the last award for styles rated. I have been told that unblended lambics are hard to find.

Your sage guidance in this heroic quest duly appreciated.

The Cantillon Bruocsella 1900 Grand Cru and Cantillon Iris have both been available locally, at one time or another in bottles. There was a keg of the Iris at the Foundry or Beer Kitchen a while back too.

Traquair Jacobite Ale, Cains Dark Mild and one of many Imperial Pilsners will satisfy the others. All are available locally. Rogue has an impy pils as does Sam Adams, Free State has one every now and then.

I can help with some of these. For Strong Pale Lager/Imperial Pils, here are some you can find all over the place:

Odell Double Pilsner
Breckenridge Regal Double Pilsner
Rogue Morimoto - look for the white 750ml bottle
Lion Imperial Pilsner

Of these, the Rogue is by far the best, but odds are whatever bottles you run across are fairly old, and it’s also by far the most expensive ($15/bottle, generally). I would recommend the Odell.

Traditional Ale:

Virtually anything from Heather Ales Ltd. (Grozet, Alba, Fraoch, Kelpie). I like Fraoch quite a bit, I would certainly drink it all the time if I could afford to. Alba is also very nice.

If you just want the tick and hardly any of the Traditional Ale experience, NB 1554 is classified as such, that stuff is everywhere.

As was mentioned, Jacobite is another candidate, and one of my all-time favorite beers.

There is a bottle of Cantillon Iris at The Foundry.
