What areas of London have/might have shops selling beers to ex-pat Georgia / Belarus / Serbia people: need a new country tick and those three sound easy enough for a city the size of our capital.
Thanks in advance to all our London based raters.

I bought a Serbian beer to the last tasting we were at, never got round to opening it. I thought you only needed the Bosnian one.

Bugger!
No major problem, I will come across one sooner rather than later I am sure: maybe even with help from the London crew.

Well, maybe without any help from the London lot!
They seem to have ignored this: most likely training for the Bermondsey Mile or whatever race they have entered for this weekend.

OK, fine. I’ve now lived in London for more than four years, and during this time I have trawled just about every type of off-licence and grocery store you can imagine (not to mention proper bottle shops), in search of obscure country ticks. At no point in my hunting have I come across beers from Belarus, Georgia or Serbia. What is perhaps even more impressive is that no beers from these countries have ever shown up at a chriso tasting. At least, not one I’ve attended as I have zero ratings for these three countries. Basically, dear non-London friend, these are country ticks that will not be easy to find.

I think your best bet is Specialist food & drink wholesalers or restaurants, and not necessarily in London. I’ve heard of Moldovan beer turning up in Sheffield, perhaps not legally tho! After that I’d consider contacting traders over that way - I know MarkoNM has access to those Eastern bloc ticks, and up for a trade. Lastly, I know it might seem extreme but Drinks of the World in Switzerland are good for obscure country ticks from all over the place. It’s where I got my Kosovo beer from. Perhaps a nice weekend away with the other half is calling next year?? There are 5 shops, mostly in city train stations so easy to find. They can email a list in advance, then make a box up for you when you arrive. Most importantly, remember to bring what you find to the next bottle share ;)

Ive put in for the Wellington twigathon this weekend as a change from the Bermondsey excellence.
I like to go back to my roots and rub shoulders with the masses from time to time.

Cheers Mat,
We should have met earlier: I drove through Switzerland to and from the South of France in September 2013.

The Wellington Twigathon is cancelled this weekend Colin: not enough takers. I’ll let you know when it is re-scheduled.

Cheers Leighton, I hoped London and it’s diverse population would throw up such beers!

I’ve often found restaurants to be useful bellwethers for his sort of thing. If there is beer from their "home" country brought in to the UK they usually like to carry it. And, if it’s a relatively down to earth place frequented by people from the country concerned, it will often be in an area where there is a sizeable community, which at least gives you some hints on where to go to trawl the shops. And, quite often with restaurants, you can do some research / contact them online.
Other possible sources of information are trade associations / Chambers of Commerce. There is usually some sort of trade promotion organistaion for the country concerned in the UK. Or even the embassy, as they often have some sort of trade promotion role.
