I have been moved though by all the threads, messages, thoughts and photo’s posted since his passing. I will be raising a glass with you all.

Simon was a truly wonderful man: funny, kind, clever and warm. The best writer on beer I ever read. Great memories of Sheffield, Derby, Peterborough and many other places.

All I know is that I will send Simon off with the best line up he would appreciate. Ok it’s Thornbridge heavy but you’d already guessed that. I will only drink beers I know he and I liked. So Jaipur and Orval will definitely be making an appearance.

Message Fin P beers 17289 º places 1653 º 21:01 Thu 7/11/2013 I have my last bottle of the very first batch of Bracia complete with its £4.99 price tag, so I think that will go down well, along with Orval and maybe a bottle of Marble Dobber. We once met Simon in The Flowerpot where he sank pint after pint of the Dobber I was mightily impressed with his ability to sink so many that day and appear none the worse.

Not too easy as the majority of his rates are cask stuff circa ’04 - ’06. Think I’ll try and pick up a bottle of Duvel - shouldn’t be too difficult to find and a catch up rate for me!
