With the number of new breweries in Charlotte opening recently (5 new breweries in the last 7 months), I thought I’d restart this thread that got frozen. See previous post: http://www.ratebeer.com/forums/new-breweries-in-charlotte_264720.htm

Although not necessarily a new brewery - Birdsong is moving into their new, larger location this weekend (April 4th). http://www.charlotteobserver.com/entertainment/article16390601.html

A few more breweries are expected to open in the coming months (Free Range, Wooden Robot, Three Spirits, Salud). Collaboration beers by both Wooden Robot and Salud have already been making their way around Charlotte in the past couple months.

nice to see the beer scene evolve by leaps and bounds. And CLT is easy to visit, by car or by air (US Air hub). There are also a number of really good (and small, therefore manageable) beer festivals throughout the year.
An often overlooked and underrated beer destination.

Wooden Robot is having a grand opening on July 11 and a soft opening this weekend (July 3-6). They will be specializing in belgian styles and also plan on brewing sours. I’m really looking forward to this place opening. I’ve tried some pretty solid collaboration beers that they’ve put out with Haw River, Heist, and Fullsteam over the past few months.

Great timing! I’ll be in Charlotte July 16-17 before heading to Funk Asheville.

I hope to talk my designated driver into hitting Primal and Bayne as well.

Looks like Barking Duck is open again too, although I’m not sure I’ll get there this time.

Red Clay Ciderworks is also opening in July - Grand Opening July 18. First cidery in Charlotte. Sounds like they may have some "soft opening" hours prior to the July 18th grand opening.

Another brewery opening in early July - Free Range Brewing is opening Thursday, July 9th. These guys are right across the street from NoDa (and the previous Birdsong location). They have been working on opening their brewery for what seems like forever (over two years).

Also, it sounds like Salud Beer Shop will be brewing their beers out of a brewery in South Carolina. They had previously planned on brewing nano-batches onsite when they expanded their store footprint. But with the Fud at Salud deli being opened up, didn’t sound like they had room to brew at the current location. They had some beers available at the State of Origin, but not sure of the availability of their beers in the future.

Man, Charlotte is bumping these days! Winston-Salem jumped from 1 brewery to a grand total of 3 since I moved here 2 years ago. Well, 4 breweries if you count the new Foothills Tasting Room.

Several new breweries just slightly west of Charlotte have opened over the summer:

Rivermen Brewing Company, in Belmont, opened up in late May.

Newgrass Brewing Co., in Shelby, opened just a couple weeks ago.

Beers from Ole Dallas Brewery, in Dallas, are available in some places. Sounds like their beers are available only at Gaston Grizzlies (summer collegiate baseball) games and select beer fests.

Interesting to see some smaller towns joining in the craft beer boom.
