Boss is sending me to new York for a week to work at his friends restaurant which is located in the heart of broadway. My question is where would be the best place to get a room that is centrally located to the restaurant and some good beer spots in the city. Also which airport is best to fly into? |
JFK is best to fly into but LaGuardia is usually cheaper. |
no idea on hotels, but def down to meet up for some beers! |
Newark is less of a zoo to fly into. But the subsequent hop into NYC can be a tad challenging. |

Yes boss is paying for hotel |
Bummer I just moved from New England, enjoy mike! Torst and ginger man are my recommendations! |
I like to stay at The Jane Hotel in Chelsea when I’m in NYC. Quirky decor, good views of the river, right on the Highline park and has a great cafe on the 1st floor, Cafe Gitane. I get one of the tiny cabin rooms (inexpensive, shared bathrooms) when I’m paying my own way. When work is paying the bill I get one of fancy captains rooms (private bath and nice views). There are several good beer destinations within 15 min walking distance: Colicchio & Sons, Blind Tiger, and 124 Old Rabbit Club. Keep walking another 15 min into the East Village and you’ve got Jimmys 43, Burp Castle and d.b.a. |
They call it the Big Apple for a reason! |

Originally posted by b3shine I kind of assumed everyone knew why... "The Big Apple" is a nickname for New York City. It was first popularized in the 1920s by John J. Fitz Gerald, a sports writer for the New York Morning Telegraph. |
