America’s favorite bad beer brand goes to the Russians. Good riddance? What’s left? Any thoughts?

The breweries Oasis controls do a ton of stuff that’s either trying to play on nostalgia or is somewhere halfway between industrial and craft, or at least pretending to be, with fancy bottles little "custom" bottles usually. PBR is a logical choice for the entry to the US market.

As long as we still get it cheap that’s chill with me. Can’t beat a $4 six pack of tall boys when you want to get dirty.

Will they be part of the next round of sanctions against Russia?

First Ukraine, then Kiev, now PBR?? I guess this is Putin’s best effort at American occupation. Better question is, how does this affect the Hipsters’ choice of swill? Schlitz?

Gasp! That included Lucky Lager. Not to mention:

" It is currently the holding company contracting for the brewing of over two dozen brands of beer and malt liquor from defunct companies including G. Heileman Brewing Company, Lone Star Brewing Company, Pearl Brewing Company, Piels Bros., National Brewing Company, Olympia Brewing Company, Primo Brewing & Malting Company, Rainier Brewing Company, F & M Schaefer Brewing Company, Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company, Jacob Schmidt Brewing Company and Stroh Brewery Company."

Wow, some famous names there.

I like the notion that I can now refer to Lone Star drinkers as Commie beer drinkers.

PBR got some sort of hipster status that was bound to fade at some point. It’s truly a bad beer. I’m guessing that the prior owners sold it while they knew it was hot -- and knew the good times wouldn’t continue.

That said, give me a solid Putin ale -- complete with Vlad’s picture on the label -- and I’ll buy one.

Only if they decide to rename it to ’Putin Blue Ribbon’ instead.
