I love great IPA’s, but prices keep creeping up and there are rarely any specials available at my local grocery outlets any more. I hear of ’great prices’ at Total Wine down in Jax (40 min.south), so I go look and there is only one IPA at less than $16/12, and some top out well over $20. Are there any limits? Do we just watch 12 packs go up to $20 with no action?? |
This type of post is kind of interesting to read from my perspective as a swede. |

It’s government control and taxes there (and in Sweden) I guess. In the US taxes are low, but we still have the archaic three-tier system in place since Prohibition that artificially drives up some prices. Still, it’s mostly supply and demand. |
Some Americans, just don’t realise how lucky they are in regards to beer prices. |

I’ll keep buying Deschutes at $7-9 a sixer (a little more for Fresh squeezed which is more than worth it) for daily drinkers with splurged on the "special" stuff. I don’t see a beer boycott in my future. |
16 for 12 seems liked a good price to me. Most of the time many top IPAs are costing 15 for a 4 pack of cans. |

The notion of a boycott on IPA prices or even craft beers in general being widely supported and capable of accomplishing anything is laughable. I agree that ever increasing prices is not something to celebrate but I also wonder what pricing would be realistic these days. And although not guaranteed, sales on one or more here is pretty common - just luck of the draw which ones and then whether they are fresh or not. |
