Some friends of mine are stationed in Germany with the US Armed Forces. They are also Craft Beer enthusiasts. I made mention to them in passing about purchasing Westvleteren.

After a brief discussion we had wherefore I attempted to illustrate the quality and availability that is Westvleteren, she promptly stated that her and husband will be taking a trip directly to St. Sixtus and would purchase the maximum quantity allowed.

Let me preface the next portion of my post with apologies in advance if I have committed a faux pas in regards to this proposition.

I would appreciate feedback and direction for those who are familiar with the purchasing and shipping process, as from what I have heard it is a mildly complicated endeavor. Furthermore; I will be willing to entertain trades as well as sale once the product is within my possession.

First off, welcome to the Kansas City forum.

All the info your friend will need is here:

http://www.sintsixtus.be/eng/brouwerij.htm

This is to purchase full crates directly from the Abbey. You can also purchase singles near the Abbey, as well as beer stores elsewhere in Belgium - though the mark up will be considerable.

Really they only part of your post which may be deemed a faux pas would be the offer to sell the beer. This is probably not your best spot to sell beer.

Cheers,

Tim
