This is basically what our beer salesmen put up with dozens of times a day. Same for our spirits sales although not quite as much. I’ve definitely found myself more and more in the wine room if I have time for sales. The hunting limited product much less of a thing and the market has already sorted itself out price wise if it is. It’s definitely a breath of fresh air. Hoping beer figures itself out but it’s almost like the culture doesn’t want it to happen.

It’s really interesting to see what the masses being on the internet has done to collectibles/consumables. Curious to see where it goes from here.

As a retailer, yes, this drives me bonkers.

Sadly, I don’t think this phenomenon will go away any time this decade. It seems to be just getting worse, as more and more people dip their toes into craft beer, and look up top 10 lists and etc, and make the hype beers even more scarce.

Yes, I tried it at Texas Craft Beer fest:

I really practice acceptance nowadays.

There is sooooo much beer and new beer and beer of higher quality then 10 years ago. I no longer know what the whalez are, I stay away from pricey beers, and I don’t find myself at beer bro events.

The beer bros drive the high-price end of the beer market. When a beer misses that mark, I swoop in and buy it off the clearance rack.

I only chases CIB and aged Kaiser, the anti-whalez beerz.

Since craft beer is riding such a wave, everybody who wants to be ’in’ will be seeking beers. We need to let these beer wannah beez just roll off our backs. No worries, its just a sign of the times. Have patience. When I was new in 2006, I was asking these mildly annoying questions.

I think that almost everyone on this site has been (or currently are) at this stage of beer nerd-dom at some point. It shouldn’t surprise any of us. It takes time to put down your harpoon and simply appreciate what’s in front of you.
