Despite the name, this place sucks. 4 brews, all with terrible aftertaste.

Ok, actually this place is a work together between the restaurant and brewery. But from the outside you only get a clue by some big (1 and 2 liter bottles) and some brew equipment/kettles. The place they use for the brewery and restaurant was the old fire department. A part of the fire department that is still in use is behind the brewery/restaurant. Very new and clean inside. A mix of red chairs and something like red couches. A longue bar and some stuff inside like parts of trees to present some of their other stuff made from beer, a fire department trailer, a beamer/projection, a cooler with some of their own beers (2 liter bottles only) and about 5 different kind of energy drinks (?). On the right side you’ll see the brew kettles and brewery that goes into the back. A pretty big place which is well used with the kitchen, bar, brewery and chairs and tables. Unfortunately they have only 4 taps with their own beers: Pils, Dunkel, Weizen and Amber. But they’re pretty tasty so that’s not a let down. In the fridge some bottles of their own brew which they have on tap and was lucky to spot an Indian Ale, which I hoped was an IPA. Service is friendly though the man behind the counter, helping us didn’t really seem to know what an IPA is (you’re never to young to learn). Sometimes service was a little to quick because we were taking our time with finishing diner, the bar personel already wanted to take the plates away but apologised when seeing we were still having diner. The food is good, especially the schnitzel with local shroom sauce! Prices are normal, thought it was €2 for a 33cl glass of beer and food between €10/18 for a diner. All by all a good place between all those weinstubes and hope they’ll do more different and interesting beers in the future! And more taps! I loved their Weizen!

This is the place where Beste Bräu is brewed and served - the restaurant is actually called Feuerwache, which confused me for a moment. (The kettles are obvious though.) Very large place, very modern, lounch bar feel. Not the coziest of places but once it filled up a bit the atomophere was better. Still, quite clinical. Their ’Keller-Pils’ is very decent, the recent is interesting at best. Still, I don’t complain with a brewpub in wine land. The reagion is beautiful and the winding roads to the village are stunning. The food was okay, large portions (as everywhere in Germany) and tasty enough, although the menu isn’t very surprising. Prices are reasonable. OVerall, it’s okay if you happen to stay in the neighborhood. The drive through the mountains here alone is worth it.

BeSte Bräu is a recently-founded brewpub in the old premises of the fire department of Cochem. The place known also by the name "Brauhaus Feuerwache", which translates loosely into "Brewpub Fire Department". This theme is reflected also in the bright red leather sofas of the interiour. The standard beer selection consists of the three safe bets of practically every German brewpub: Pils, Dunkles and Weizen. From previous comments it is apparent that some seasonals are also available. The waitress didn’t seem to have a slightest clue of their house-brews.

Had a great time here when last in Cochem (May 2012), used it four or five times: met the owner/brewer Stefan, and his two trainee brewers, one being Australian (Micheal). Had a good chat about their expectations and ideas. I was taken on a tour, just me, their first English speaking one, obviously by Micheal. He comes from German stock, so his German is fine, better than mine anyway! The whole palce, brewery and pub area are brand new, bright and modern in design. I can remember it being a second-hand store before the re-firbishment and change. Only three beers available on my visits, but each one was different in style and in good condition. The food looked good but we didn’t eat there. Good addition to a mostly ’wine town’ and I hope it works out for Stefan and his team.

Bryne  (1617) Bryne, Norway | July 27, 2012
A newly opened brewpub in hardcore white wine land. Spacious, modern looking, black and red leather interior and outdoor seating, though by a main road. Zwickel, weizen, dunkles and whisky bier from tap. A classic German beer range, except the whisky bier which was quite enjoyable. But, the zwickel was my favourite. The same beers are also available in 2 litre bottles and 5, 10, 20 or 30 litre kegs. I would also like to find their beers available in 50 cl bottles at the local "Getränkemarkt" (Visited June 30th 2012)
