Very nice tap room in Martinez! YesÖ I said Martinez, CA! I stopped in here one day after visiting the courthouse trying to get a copy of my sonís birth certificate. Very cool building that looks like an old victorian home as you walk up. Once inside you feel very comfortable with a nice bar and plenty of tables. There is a wooded area with a creek right out back so you sorta feel like youíre out in the country a bit. It adds to the ambiance. The beers on tap were very solid. Mostly locals only distributed in the Bay Area, but nothing too outrageous. I think I had a couple of the Bear Republic single hops beers. I didnít try the food. The service was very good. The barkeep knew his stuff and was very enthusiastic. Iím glad to see this place in an area that was pretty barren for craft beer for many years. Iíll go back when itís more convenient.

Creek Monkey Tap House is located in a house that formerly held a long-standing Italian restaurant in downtown Martinez next to the creek. The atmosphere is, therefore, a lot like a family restaurant. The place is bright, clean, and friendly, but not what youíd expect from a bar. The tap list, however, is pretty impressive, with local and regional microbreweries well-represented: Heretic, Ale Industries, Mission, Eel River, Anderson Valley, Drakes, Stone, Mendocino, Moylanís, plus Triple Voodoo, Stone, Boulder, Uinta, Bison, and a few others. I had no shortage of new beers to choose from and Iím pushing 4000 ratings. An updated tap list is chalked behind the bar and on the wall by the tables, as well as on the website. Well done. The service is friendly. The food is solid. As far as Martinez goes, I donít think youíre going to top this place.
