38 OK, this place is freaking weird. Here’s the story of a lovely lady. Who married some rich dude and used all his money to do a bunch of stuff around town, including a winery and this place. Then she lost her money, and Donald Trump bought the winery and some other dude bought this place. And here we are. It’s a gas station in downtown Charlottesville. It has a restaurant venue inside with subs and fried food and such, but it doesn’t feel like a restaurant. The ambiance is just strange, upscale but not. Nice beer selection, actually. Lots of swill, but also a decent selection of American micros and local stuff. No singles aside from a few bombers. I didn’t notice the prices as I didn’t buy anything. Of the three employees, none of them so much as looked at me. If this place ever becomes a full scale restaurant again, parking will be a serious challenge. 350th place rating! |
44 So, I categorized this as a restaurant, even though it is very much a fancy gas station. This place serves lunch and dinner, and brunch on Sundays, and some of these dishes include some pretty high-end items. As far as beer goes, their selection has some eye-catching labels, including local, American craft, and some decent imports. I haven’t eaten here since it re-opened, so I’m going to leave the food rating out, but I’ve heard great things. This place is totally worth checking out, especially if you’re low on gas, or hungry with a few extra bucks in your pocket. |
