Great Northern Hotel

A rather big, super cool local boozer. Lots of wood and tiled walls. Plenty of great beers from Australia and around the world. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Working Wi-Fi. Well worth a visit if in Brunswick.

We stopped in on a rainy evening and this place was exactly what we needed. Cozy and inviting with zero pretentious attitude that could be found with a tap list like this. All the lines were pushing top notch craft beer with one or two ciders as well. The food is pub fare done real well. The day’s special was the chicken park, which not only was quite tasty but the portion size was enough for two. The bar keepers were friendly and willing to answer any questions I had. This is the perfect neighborhood pub.

Great basic pub with fantastic vibe. Very solid tap list, but nothing cutting edge. Well priced. Average service. Good experience all in all, awesome for a Sunday session. Large beer garden

Right up their with the Royston as a "normal" pub devoting itself to craft. 19 taps with the only crab being Carlton Draught and Trumer Pils - won’t hold this against them as them need to keep to longtime regulars happy. Tap list is diverse and of regular quality; I won’t list the beers as the website has an up to date listing. Pricing mid pack. Down to earth staff and an honest if unspectacular menu. Rear beer garden is excellent. Will definitely return.

Just a really nice local pub vibe. The beer list on tap and in bottles will vary, and not always surprise but there will be something worth trying. Daily food meals are great. Friendly staff. The pub dog wasn’t there so I’ve docked a few points for that...

Fantastic place. Great atmosphere - lots of wood, comfortable seating etc. Plush. Pretty decent tap list. Wish they could have a few more rotating taps would really send this place in to the stratosphere. Decent prices and the bottles are VERY well priced compared to other options in the city. Feral on tap is great. We need more places with this mixture of good beer/nice surroundings and a welcome ’down home’ atmosphere. Say hi to the Dog for me!
