74 An austrian restaurant with a decent selection of beers, particularly from German-speaking countries and some locals. A good place to find some hard to find Austrian beers. |
70 I have visited Grunauer many times for drinks, lunch and dinner. Located in the Freight house building, the restaurant features three distinct areas to enjoy drinks and food - the beautiful bar, a classy dining room, and an excellent outdoor patio facing Union Station and the train tracks. Service is always solid, and the food is certainly the best German / Austrian food available in Kansas City. The beer list is not vast, though it features a number of well chosen Austrian and German beers, as well as a handful of US Crafts. I always have a great time at Grunauer. 70 = ★★½ (Locals should check it out, visitors with extended time) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
78 beautiful resturant, i have yet to sit at the bar but it also looks great. Staff is very nice and on top of it. for kansas city this is a resonable tap list, focus is on imports meeting the theme and area of the foods origin and they stock a good amount of boulevard products. The food is pretty fucking amazing. I mean, you really dont need a huge beer list because you are going to eat so much that it wont fit. A tad pricey but worth it. Not a beer destination but rather a food destination with adequate beer. |
76 Grunauer is a nice Austrian/German restaurant. Pretty cool location near Union Station. The food can be a little pricey, but it is really good. Grunauer probably has the best German/Austrian beer list in town. Around 12 beers on tap and many more in the bottle. Great place to come and grab some schnitzel or sausages and a german beer. |
76 Great place, way better than expected. It’s a beer place in the sense that they have 10-15 taps plus maybe 30-40 bottles. Mostly Austrian and German, with some other Euro and Amercian’s mixed in. The food should be why you come. It’s an upscale Austrian (think German) food, if there such a thing as upscale for that type of food. It was outstanding! |
84 Nice red brick interior. Service was friendly and prompt. Nice selection of German and Austrian beers, as well as Boulevard and other US microbrews. Authentic Austrian cuisine. The beef in my Gulasch was melt-in-the-mouth tender, and the apfelstrudel took me back to Austria. I’ll be back when I"m in KC again. |
80 I’m a lover of all things pork, and this Austrian restaurant does right by pig products. As for beer, they have all of the usual German suspects, plus Eggeberg Dopplebock from Austria, which goes great w/ pork. |
80 Grunauer is an Austrian restaurant presenting an elegant take on German/ Austrian classics. They have a fantastic selection of German and Austrian beers on tap with a select few domestic and local microbrews. Their bottle beer selection is, again, Germanic centered but not in a limited way. |
