60 Visited on Tuesday 26/11/13 around 6.30pm.
Downtown bar located up a staircase which leads to a single room venue with fairly basic decoration, wooden floors and tables and 7 or 8 stools around the bar.
5 of their own beers were available plus one guest.
Service at the bar was fine although the place was pretty quiet for prime time post work.
3 beers were available in the sampler but these were 8oz pours so not overly ticker friendly. House beers were pretty mediocre but not disasters, averageing at 3.1 for me.
The place had that feel of 10 or so years ago it was likely a beer destination, but not the case today.
If you’re in the area and want some ticks then no harm done, but not a place to seek out for me.
Happy hour was 5 - 7pm. |
76 Finally made it here on a recent trip to Philly. You have to climb up a set of narrow stairs to the second floor where the brewpub is. Definitely an old place re-purposed. It has a nice old wood bar. Old wood floors. It is a little dark, but has a big old skylight in it. The beers were good. We definitely enjoyed them. We did have any appetizers, but the dinners we had were all well received. The fries were right up there with Monk’s. I had the salmon, and it was excellent. There were also very positive reports on the French dip and the meatloaf. Definitely worth the trip! |

Despite the fact that there are half a dozen breweries in the city limits I only made it to this one because Triumph closed unexpectedly a few months back. This was one of the later stops in the day on the way back to the train station. The beer may not be enough to make me come back but I still had a good time. This is a really interesting place. They have seven taps running and they were served in wine glasses, which were considered half pours. Half the menu was hoppy and then there was a Berliner. The name sounds awfully familiar (I know it’s a pun on a JFK saying but Peg’s has used it multiple times). The service was decent. The place overall was very busy and there was some kind of a scavenger hunt going on so there were a lot of drunk people in the place. Fun crowd, fun place. but the beer is just meh. |
62 Nice place with a few good barley-driven beers on tap. Very friendly staff, and a nice space. Cool that they had the Lost Abbey beers here but Duck Duck Gooze, Cuvee du tomme went in like 20 minutes apparently. Kind of a cool set up in this upstairs place. |
68 Neighborhod vibe in the heart of the city.5 taps and 2 guest aps, good food and service |
60 Welcoming brewpub on the second floor of a small building in the heart of Philly craftbeer happening places. Medium size place, a bit sloppy looking, a bit sloppy friendly service, no attention to details. I’ve only visited this place once but it felt like a local watering hole, borderline dive-bar. The problem was the beer. They had 4 or 5 of their own beers and one or two guests if I remember correctly. A few pints were decent enough to drink and get a rating out of, but one or two pints were ordered just stayed on the table, bad stuff, I didn’t even bother drinking enough of them to get a rating. The place is friendly, the type of places I could spend the night at if only their beers were of better quality. I’m not going back. |
80 Nodding Head is a good brewpub with 8 beers on tap which are quite decent. Pub food menu with interesting variations. 3 X 5 on. for 8$. |
78 A nice Philly brewery with plenty of house beers on tap, and a nice collection of bobble head tap handles. The service was friendly and prompt, and the beers good and adventurous. I did not try any food. |
