76 Solid tap house. Jess and I visited on our way up to Wausau in 2019. Visited on a whim, sampled a variety of beers. Super friendly bartender. Wish we could’ve spent more time there. We’ll be back! |
84 Given the age of this brewery I was suprised to see this in a strip center, but here it is. I liked it. Spent a few hours here. I counted 29 beers on tap, and it took me 11 to bingo this list. Beers from all styles are at the very least well executed and several are excellent. Several sours on tap. Prices are good... $2.25 4 ounce tasters and $4.50 full pours. No bad beers of the 11 I tried and several standouts. Some random snacks but no real food. Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking easy. Ambiance is nice. Long, narrow, retail (bottles and swag) to the back. Long bar, some tables. Good music playing (Queen, Foreigner, etc.). The armed chairs at the bar were annoying but that's really my only complaint about the atmosphere. I easily spent a few hours here. Recommended stop (especially considering the beer bar next door and the hotel in the same strip center). |
78 A generally great place that’s not without a few drawbacks. Firstly, the location is fairly awkward (part of a dumpy strip mall) and not particularly inviting. Additionally, the space itself is long, narrow, and mostly features high-top seating. It’s not the comfiest or most atmospheric taproom in the world. However, where it counts, O’So delivers. During my visit there were roughly 35 beers on tap with another 20 or so in bottles. Many sours were offered. A few guests from Central Waters added to the nice beer list. Prices were also great. Staff were fairly Jekyll and Hyde - most were great, a few were dicks. Clientele were mostly wasted, which probably didn’t help the staff out much. Overall, a pretty essential visit if you’re in central Wisconsin. If these guys ever opened a destination tap room, it’d become one of the best beer geek destinations in the northern midwest. |
88 A top notch brewery to visit in my mind. An odd location in a strip mall but the taproom is a minimalist narrow space with a bar on one side and a few seats on the other. Service was solid and the bartenders know the beer well. 20ish taps of their own beer on plus a number of local guest taps and special bottles to go. Flights are available. No food on site. Prices are great with all beers 4 bucks. A must stop if you are in the area. |
94 Love stopping here when I’m in Central Wisconsin. Very cheap. Everything is $4. Great selection. O’so makes some fun beers. Also has a solid guest selection too. |
62 This place was odd...very dark and echoey even on a sunny day. Strangely quiet. Service was ok but minimalist and no food. Beer was meh. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go back. |
74 They have many beers, but they do not have only one or two that stand above the rest. The rest of the non-Oso selection was pretty good, too. The bartender was nice and thorough in his descriptions of the beer. I enjoyed my experience there and would go again if in the area. |
88 Stopped in on a trip to Central Wisconsin. Basically it’s both a homebrew shop, O’sos brewing operations and O’sos tap room. They had a handful of bottles available and about 40 or so beers on tap. Plenty of Good offerings on tap, probably 10 from O’so and the rest were all Wisconsin I think. Some far away brewpubs I’m not use to seeing on tap were on tap here. I like what the new brewpubs like Vintage, O’so, Sweet Mullets, etc are doing by putting beers on from each other. If only someone would open up a brewpub in Milwaukee with good beer that would do that! Friendly staff, very reasonable prices and they do offer a sampler. |
86 A great new location--in an upscale (well, for Plover, WI, it is definitely upscale) shopping center. 40 beautiful tap handles line one wall, and they represent everything O’so is currently brewing plus guest taps from a big variety of other Wisconsin microbreweries. Everything is $4 (price updated 12/28/2012), regardless if your order is served in a standard pint, snifter or whatever. Bartenders are very knowledgeable and always ready with a sample if you’re unsure or just curious. Support O’so! |
78 Hung out in the homebrew shop/taproom this summer having a cold one. Kind of neat to see and hear where things have come from and where their heading. New brewery location in the works. Friendly staff. Fighting the good fight for Wisconsin craft brewing. |
