64 Right in the hubbub of downtown Oakland. Lots of interior space and seating, with a somewhat modern-old time hybrid. Flights available for a reasonable price. Beers are middle-of-the-road in quality. Very friendly service. Not really a highlight in downtown Oakland, but if you have time, it’s worth the stop for the ticks. |
64 Visited early evening on a Monday. Located in a cool older building on Old Oakland. Setup is restaurant seating, bar area and a nice outdoor patio out back. Beer selection is 8 house drafts, as well as 15 guests. I didn’t eat, the food menu was straightforward brewpub fare. This was very much an “Old School First Generation” feeling brewpub. 64 = ★★ (Just ok) I only use the total score, not the component parts. |
78 First visit of the day since it was right next to our hotel. Almost empty on early Monday afternoon. As Bob said, kind of British pub - restaurant feel. There is a small bar but we sat at a table. There is also a patio at the back. Very good service. We had all their beers in flights. Prices were OK |
76 Visited on a Monday afternoon and the place was not very busy. About 10 of their beers on tap, with a couple of guest taps. Kind of a British pub feel. Service was good and prices seemed fair. Located very near the Oakland Convention Center. Worth a visit. |
78 Second stop on trip with sister and brother in law. Pretty quiet on a Tuesday afternoon. Bartender was really friendly and knowledgable. They had sample flights for their core beers, but I just ordered what I wanted. Prices seemed fair for Oakland. Street parking was not difficult, but again this was Tuesday afternoon. Kind of an interesting place inside, older decor. Bathrooms downstairs which takes you past the brewing equipment and barrel storage. They have a cool display in the back of tap handles from now defunct CA breweries, which is kind of interesting - the "Graveyard." Beers were alright. Apparently they have a new brewer who has transitioned them from an extract house to all grain, which should help moving forward. |
70 Visited on a Friday evening in November 2015. It’s a large brewpub with a large outdoor area. Plenty of seating inside, it’s not too comfortable but is decent enough.
Tried a sample flight but had tried one of the beers on it. Asked to swap for the BA Leviathan which was told $5 extra! Sucked it up (actually was $2 extra) hence the low service mark. Beer was decent enough but wouldn’t make a special trip just to go there. |
72 It has taken me a while to try this place out, but I was not disappointed. We sat on the patio out back, which was nice in spite of the cars driving past, and trashy people yelling at each other on the street. This is in downtown Oakland afterall. The service was decent. The beer was good. The food was excellent. I had a good time, and will definitely return. |
70 This Oakland landmark has existed since 1988, serving a wide range of their brews along with a few guest taps. There is a nice bar with around a dozen stools and quite a few tables located nearby. The food is pretty good though not exceptional. Nice ambiance. |
62 Big restaurant and bar. The place was clean but old and unkept, could use a remodel. The beer was decent, nothing special. The food was good, fair service. |
70 Nearest bar from my hotel so had to check this place. Couple of sports channels on tv. Beers from own brewery and some local guest beers. Food was nothing special. |
