Opposite the bus station (and train station just beyond) this is a handy place to stop if you are using public transport or happen to be in the centre of West Bromwich. The exterior of the building is striking and the billiard features in the architecture unique. The inside is perhaps not at one with the buildings first use. It’s far too brightly lit (and given only the tables would have been lit previously it seems out of sorts). The bar is in the middle of a square open hall with the usual selection of regional and national ales to choose from. Expect to watch some racing on the televisions as the locals hope for their bets to come in.

A quite frightening boozer in many ways, not least because the locals are likely to latch on to you, on the scrounge for pints. However in West Brom, beggars cannot be choosers and this serves a purpose. It’s also very close to the bus station, so chances are you’ll pass by this place, whenever you pass through West Brom.

Weatherspoons. Not a great place, one of the worst pubs I have been in located in one of the worst towns with locals to match. On the plus side they had an excellent mix of cask ales and the staff were good.
