Visited after dinner on a Tuesday. Located just down the hill from McMenamins Six Arms and housed in a former mortuary. The approach to the building is impressive, it is a large gothic structure, 20 steps up from the sidewalk. Really feels like an event to walk in. The interior is straight forward bar, with seating in tables on the right, longish bar on the left, and an area to stand at tables in between. Loft area up above the entrance. Saw a sign for a patio, but didnít check it out. The selection is 32 draft, with a bunch of high quality and well chosen locals and NW beers (including de Garde). Service and crowd were friendly and fun.
76 = ★★★ (Worth the visit, must for locals, and visitors with time)
I only use the total score, not the component parts.
Nice place. Outdoor seating with was fortunate because inside they played extremely loud music. Around 20 beers on tap but a rather one sided selection. No brown ales, abbeys or stouts. Mostly IPAís and pale ales. Service was nice and prompt
Every time I come here, itís during some sort of event and it is so packed, and the line is out the door. I came here last night to a much more mellow setting and got to really take the place in. Always enjoy it here for sure. Always a great taplist, featuring a ton of locals, and they always have a sour on, which is awesome. Release a new one every Monday I believe. Cool building. A fun stop when in the area for sure. Might even call it a must stop if in the Seattle area.
Visited on a Wednesday evening in November 2015. Large beer bar in quite a grand building. Has 2 floors but upstairs was closed. Got a seat in the main bar and had a couple of beers. Selection mostly from Pacific NW and whatwe tried was decent. No tasting flights but do do 12oz pours of beers for a $1 less. Service was good. Nice atmosphere to the place. Liked it.
Good-to-great taplist at all times. Thereís always a randall option if thatís your thing. Former funeral home, if that is either exciting or disturbing to you. Happy hour from 3-6 for $1 off beers. Full pours only. Can be loud and crowded. Parking in the area sucks, but, you know, Capitol Hill.
Tons of cool events throughout the year. Even though it isnít my usual scene, itís definitely worth a visit, especially if youíre in the downtown area.
A really cool looking place, crowded but still service at the bar Is decent. Had some snacks and was not impressed with the food. Beer list is pretty impressive, but crowd is ordering as much cocktails as beer. No samples or tasting trays so not ticker friendly. A good place, but check the menu online ahead of time.
Finally checked this place out in Capitol Hill. Parking is difficult around here, but itís worth it to check this place out. Seems almost like an old train station inside, with archways and an old school aesthetic. Very good beer list, though on the pricy side. Service is friendly and attentive. Worth a stop in the area, though not one of the best bars in town.
