The White Swan appears quite basic at first but it’s comfortable, clean and friendly. There are two rooms - the public bar with its water jugs on the ceiling and the lounge bar, which has a nice fireplace and various other things on the ceiling such as Davy lamps, copper kettles, buckets and warming pans. There are five cask beers and they also serve food - the teatime special of three courses for £5 is hard to beat. It wasn’t gourmet food but it was very tasty and attractively served. ManVsBeer  (3529) Hebden Bridge, England | July 3, 2013| Updated May 12, 2017
A very central pub in the small town of Hebden Bridge, looking out onto the stone bridge that crosses the shallow duck-filled river. It’s a relatively small pub with the bar that greets you as soon as you enter and a cosy enough sitting area in front and to its side. The right hand side of the pub is also convivial but includes tables more suited to dining. It’s traditional in style and as the town centre attracts a number of tourists each day it is perfectly positioned for ad-hoc trade. The ceiling is worth a view as it includes many ceramic beer jugs hanging full of various advertisements for the brewer and other vice related products. There’s a few ales to choose from as well as ordinary lagers, and Black Sheep have recently supplied a pump clip for an ale that celebrates 30 years of the same landlady here, although it’s essentially Black Sheep Bitter which is always served here. It was closed for 10 months following the 2015 Boxing Day floods.
