Whole Foods Market - P Street

Visited on 10th October 2017. Large Whole Foods in central Washington. It's got a coffee bar with 10 taps, had some proper filthy beer on here. Sat there supping a Impy Stout, not sure if you can take it shopping or not. Growler fill station and a good selection of beers, large format singles, multipacks plus a few singles smaller cans and bottles. Prices were good. Service was decent enough. Maybe not a destination as such but worth a look.

It’s a grocery store. Given that, they have a decent selection of bombers - some good gets for an out-of-towner. No mix-match 6-ers, which sucks, and no real selection of 12-oz singles either. I left with a couple Wicked Weed beers, and a couple others. Will do fine for a night in a hotel after spending a few hours at Churchkey.

What happened to the beer department. Great selection of ordinary beers. Why did they fire Randy?

Pretty convenient to convention center and associated hotels. Nice selection of local craft, larger regionals and imports. decent prices as well, but didnt get much help form the staff.

Regular supermarket with a good selection of craft beers. Six packs and bombers.

Has dedicated free parking for an hour and a half. Came on a Sunday morning and was amazed how busy this place is. Typical Whole Foods with typical quantity for the beer, but better than average quality. A few taps where you would also get your hot coffee. The bottled beer is just past the check out on the left (front of the store, toward the street). Nobody to help you in the beer aisle. Pricing is average, expected it to be a little more for the area. Typical Whole Foods food, smaller tea selection than average. I found a top 50 perry I had not rated. They don’t a good job with breaking up six-packs into singles. I would go back.

Interesting enough selection and mostly domestic bottles. Split between chiller space and shelves. I’m sure the selection turns over regularly so worth checking in to see what’s on offer. I came by mid afternoon so avoided any clusterfuck of after work crowds.

Got here to mainly get some foods, but beer was worth checking out as well . Some nice ones , some crappy ones ... Rather big amount of choice. Some locals ( DC brau ) , some imports . Everything as it should be , but nothing really new or different than other beerselling places around . Honoust prices , as expected . Totally missed the taps though ???

Compared to the other Whole Foods in the greater DC area, it’s certainly not the best. Thanks to DC’s import laws, there are out-of-market beers that are available here than in the VA locations. Place is always packed, there is something like 30 checkouts, all in operation the times I’ve been there. Moves quickly, but I don’t think I’ve had to stand in a grocery store line of something like 100 people since per-Thanksgiving or Christmas back in the late 90s. Clearly a sign that more real grocery stores are needed in this part of DC (and not those crappy corner stores that sell grossly overpriced items).

I would say that the store is probably a good bet for those who don’t have the ability to drive around the greater DMV to better grocery stores. If you live in Virginia, you may as well drive to the vastly superior Fair Lakes location. For people in Maryland... your guess is as good as mine.

Visited here on Black Friday along with all of the other people who were looking to make their yearly BCBS purchase. Apart from having to suffer from waiting in line within earshot of some painfully awkward beer geek chat, the experience actually wasn’t all that bad. I arrived late in the morning, avoided bottle sales, and instead got a glass of the coffee variant to enjoy in the upstairs cafeteria. The beer selection is very good for a Whole Foods. Plenty of locals alongside a strong selection of players from the rest of the US and Europe. OK prices. The staff were friendly. Overall, one of the better options if you’re looking for bottles in the area.
