3.7 Tooborac Blacksmith's Porter From a 330ml bottle on 21/3/2020 (ABV listed as 5.5 %). Pours not too far off black with a small head. Smells of chocolate with a hint of coffee and refrigerator. Tastes of milk and dark chocolate, with a bit of caramel and a further hint of coffee. There's moderate roasty soy bitterness that balances it out quite nicely. Medium bodied (certainly not thin like some other raters have asserted) with moderate carbonation. I really enjoyed this one - certainly the pick of the range in terms of what I've tried. A tasty and nicely balanced porter. Saturday, March 21, 2020

3.6 Tooborac Firemans Red IPA From a 330ml bottle on 20/3/2020. Pours a clear deep red/amber with pretty much no head. Has a slight malty nose with a little dark fruit. Tastes of toffee and toast, with some sweet citrus and a hint of berries. The bitterness is very firm, lingering and a bit tongue coating. Medium bodied with moderate to average carbonation. Not quite a home run but pretty tasty and quite intense for just 5.3%. Friday, March 20, 2020

3.1 Tooborac Shearers Lager From a 330ml bottle on 18/3/2020. Pours a super clear dark golden with almost no head. The nose is sweet and malty with some grain. The flavour features toasty malt, and a little citrus sweetness, finishing with a middling bitterness, with hint of grain and spice. Light bodied with average carbonation. This is actually not too bad at all, and pretty tasty for 4.5%. Way better than the average premium lager for mine. Would make a pretty good BBQ beer. Wednesday, March 18, 2020

3.4 Tooborac Gunslingers American Pale Ale From a 330ml bottle on 16/3/2020. Pours a clear deep golden with a small head. The nose is a bit herbal and grassy with some light fruit. Flavour wise, there's a bit of light sweet biscuit malt, some citrus fruit, finished off by a medium hop bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A solid enough APA. 3.7 Tooborac Please Sir, I Want S'more Although this was originally produced for GABS 2018, they've now put it in a 660ml bottle. Aromas of Chocolate, toast and a little aniseed and lemon dominate, but the marshmallow comes through as it warms up. The chocolate and toast come through strongly in the mouth as does some citrus. It's a very pleasant stout with plenty of hops. Wednesday, September 26, 2018

3.4 Tooborac Red India Pale Ale The beer I'm drinking is the Tooborac Firemans Red IPA with a 5.3% ABV so it's not exactly the same as the one listed here - it seems they've tweaked the recipe. There are aromas of toffee, cherry, bread, apple and lemon. The hops leave a bitter flavour along the sides of the tongue while there is some grapefruit and plenty of pepper to balance the nice malt backbone. Tuesday, September 25, 2018

4 Tooborac Please Sir, I Want S'more On tap at GABS on 20 May 2018. Sweet at the start and it carries all the way through to the finish and then a moderate bitterness kicks in. Smells sweet and chocolatey. Black in colour with a dense tan head. All that was missing was the campfire. Saturday, June 23, 2018

3.4 Tooborac Stonemason's Pale Ale It pours golden colour with an average head that fades with some lacing left behind. It has aroma of citrus. It has medium sweetness. Average body thickness, and lively for ale. Thursday, June 22, 2017

2.8 Tooborac Shearers Lager 160517. On tap at Saint and Rogue. An average pale lager that is neither very good nor very bad - it sits somewhere in the middle. Thin bodied with a taste that is relatively bland. Probably would go down well if you were a shearer who,has just finished shearing sheep. Friday, June 9, 2017

3.7 Tooborac Gunslingers American Pale Ale 160517. On tap at Saint Rogue. Came across this beer by accident which is always good when it is a decent beer, as this one surely is. Toffee coloured with a sticky light tan head. More malt than hops in the aroma. Friday, June 9, 2017

3.3 Tooborac Gunslingers American Pale Ale Bottle. Just hazy amber with a dense white head that lasts very well. Bright citrusy aroma with herbal lemon and grapefruit, light biscuit, a touch of honey. Very light bodied. Tastes much as it smells with moderate bitterness at the end. Perhaps a bit dominated by citrus for me and could use a little more body, but perhaps that just means I should try it again in summer. Thursday, August 25, 2016

2.1 Tooborac Ca$hed Up Summer Ale Pours gold, almost no head. Nose shows toffee, butterscotch, buttered popcorn. Flavours include more diacetyl and accompanying toffee with a grainy note too. Very low carbonation, almost flat. Thursday, March 31, 2016

3 Tooborac Maple Cream Brown Ale 640mL bottle Good cola brown body, creamy beige head. Nose is a bit muted - nutty, bread crust, sweet toast - not a great deal of maple. Medium bodied, lingering drying texture. Palate delivers nutty, toasty malts, oddly well-attenuated, very little sweetness here, phenolic spicy sort of finish, very dry. Something not quite right here (infected?). Friday, January 29, 2016

3.2 Tooborac Maple Cream Brown Ale Poors a ruby brown, nice creamy head but that disappears slowly. Aroma of slight malt, coffee and chocolate. All very subtle. Flavours are also very subtle. 2.5 Tooborac Stonemason's Pale Ale Clear amber, small head. Cardboard and floral aromas. Taste is quite sweet overall - floral again, passionfruit, light peach. Tastes a bit watered down. Very mild. Monday, January 26, 2015

3.6 Tooborac Stonemason's Pale Ale I drove across the countryside to get to this pub last year, and now the bottle pops up at the Edinburgh Castle hotel in Brunswick. This is a really pleasant, mild pale ale with lots of hop character. It smells of toffee, caramel, a little citrus and lots of floral notes. The caramel is very prominent when tasted, along with a good amount of bitter hops. The sweetness would probably stop you after two or three, but certainly not after one. Friday, January 16, 2015

3.2 Tooborac Blacksmith's Porter Pours black with a lasting off-white head. Nose shows caramel, bready malt, milk chocolate and roasted barley. Flavours are not as impressive. Some roasted barley and sodt chocolate but it’s rather plain and seems to be lacking in the mid-palate and finish. Body feels a little bit thin. Thursday, September 4, 2014
