Craft Beer Moonlight Dunkelweizen
hazy amber brown color. Extremely phenolic overwhelming nose that smells a bit like dish water. The mouth is much better. Mildly sweet. Very malty lots of bananas and cloves but not much chocolate notes. Full body. Low carbonation. The nose ain’t great, but mouth is decent though too low carbonation. Too phenolic. Not bad

Craft Beer Moonlight Edomae
pitch black color with dark brown head. Cacao and dark fruit notes in the nose. Big dark fudge cake notes, tobacco, dark fruit notes in the mouth with some port. WTF this is way better than the rep. Great mouth feel with modest roasted malt notes. Good fruity finish but lacks a bit of roasted malt. Still this is really good and one of best stouts I’ve had in Japan. Fantastic.

Craft Beer Moonlight Tama no Izumi
Draught at the brewpub. Quite light bodied, mildly bready with some citrus notes, fairly dry finish. Average homebrewer level, decently refreshing and ok for the price I guess.

Craft Beer Moonlight Nakanoshima
Draught at the brewpub. Muddy body with flavors of orange peel and sweet dough, dirty bittersweet finish. Gets worse as it warms with notes of vomit, quite unbalanced and barely fermented.

Craft Beer Moonlight Edomae
Bottle from the brewery. Aroma is roasty, salty caramel, dark fruits. Taste is nice, but aroma better. Roast again, something a little weird and astringent at the start but the finish is roasty and lightly creamy. Changes a bit as you go down. Bit of plastic in there... Preferred it at the start, but it’s still alright.

Craft Beer Moonlight Masugatajou
Bottle, taken away from the brewpub. Aroma is malty and lightly spicy, smells pretty British ale-like. Taste is maybe more Belgian. Yeasty, bit of a spritz to it, light spice, biscuity malt. Sweet too. Quite a strange one, but quite fun.

Craft Beer Moonlight Spica
Tap at the pub. Interesting. Ultra grainy, little bit of sweetness, full body, touch of spice. Very wheaty, but that sweet thing is kind of strange. Maybe almost Belgian.

Craft Beer Moonlight Dunkelweizen
Tap at the pub. The pick of the bunch. Nice long lingering banana wheat sweetness at the finish. Aroma has less banana and is more wheaty, something a little strange, bit of booze. Nice.

Tap at the pub. Subtle, bit light fruity/floral sweetness. Quite thin but easy drinking. Strawberry-like maybe. Insubstantial but alright.

Craft Beer Moonlight Triple
Tap at the brew pub. Reckon this has changed a lot since KL rated it. Looks more like a dubbel! Aroma is roasty and herbal. Has a sweetness to it too. Bit burnt caramel, black treacle. Like no tripel I’ve ever had before. Aniseed. All over the place. Spicy. A strange experience. At times quite nice, but a bit confused and one was enough.

Craft Beer Moonlight Nakanoshima
Tap at the brewery. Interesting. Hoppier than last one (the supposedly hopped up Spica). Belgian sweetness again. Bit fruity. Best one so far.

Craft Beer Moonlight Raspberry
Draught at the brewpub. Huge raspberry and jam aroma. Not exactly natural, but aromatic and nice enough. Reddish gold color. Sweet flavor of raspberry and some malt, with a slight sour edge. Tangy, smooth, oily, and pretty drinkable. About as good as any sweetened, mass-produced Belgian Framboise!

Craft Beer Moonlight Kinga Shinnen (Ume)
Draught at the brewpub. It’s call ume--plum, since plum is the third of the auspicious plants for the Japanese new year--Pine, Bamboo, and plum. It tasted like plum as well, though the bartender said their weren’t any in it! Nice, spicy aroma of plums. Dark orange-brown color. Thinner flavor of ume and spice, caramel. Decent taste, though the flavor doesn’t live up to the nice nose. Strong bitterness in the finish. Their best beer today.

Craft Beer Moonlight Triple
Draught at the brewpub. Sweet, butterscotch flavor with a lemon tang and grass. Honey as well. Simple, ok flavors but a bit syrupy and lacks integration and hop character.
