Bomber from Bottleworks in June 2017 on my way back from an Alaska Cruise. Nose is molasses, tobacco, chocolate, and a hint of mustiness. Black with a small cinnamon tan head. Flavor is lightly sweet molasses and chocolate.

2222oz bottle pours out black topped with a long lasting tan head. Nose is nice roast malts coffee chocolate barrel notes. Taste is more of the nice sweet chocolate ash roast coffee and a barrel kick.

Bomber thanks to the Boise crew. 2015 vintage. Pours a dark brown color with a medium to small white head. A big toffee and smoke nose. Very big smoked malts, sweet, chocolate, ashy, really tastes like rum not gin. Bigger smoke and dark malts. Very smooth. Lovely.

On Tap Clear very pale golden. Thin wispy of white head. Light slightly sweet malts. A bit corny but smooth and easy. A bit under hopped, even considering the style. For corona lovers. Fairly sweet.

Brouwer’s, Seattle. Lacing, dark off-white head, heavy black-brown body. Boozy proper up front. Odd edge. Lightest smoke. Round, astringent character. Sweet malt-porter, lacking some intensity. Solid, well aged. Lacking some depth. Barrel isn’t distinct. Nice.

Draft at the Northgate. Pours a cloudy bright orange with a dense and creamy sherbet-y tan head that sticks around forever, leaving tons and tons of lace. One problem with Rams is that they serve everything in only mugs or oversize shakers, your choice--but the glass is always frosted. Sigh. Particularly annoying with aromatic hoppy stuff. Their logo would look cool on a snifter, too. Anyway, the nose is mostly piney resin, some sweet grain and caramel. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Grains and caramel plus piney resin on the palate. Even as it warms and a tiny fruit note pokes through, it’s still kinda closed out. Dry resiny finish.

22oz bottle acquires from deyholla. Thanks, Derek. Epic pull. Pours a darker dreary opaque hue. Blackish with some brownish glow on the edges, frothy chocolate milk head is a firm film, thicker ringer laces nicely. Aromas preach toast and roast, a jab of dark fruit and potent gun barrel essence. Botanicals, spirit, touch of oak. A bit of carmelized malt, cocoa, and more gin. Initial is a bit lighter in body than expected, chocolate, toast oak. A dash of caramel, botanical, touch of warmth. A really smooth flow on the palate, jabs of cocoa, faint dark fruit, biscuity and a dry soda bread like appeal. Backend is a bit oaky, a touch warm, some spirit. Gin Barrel integrates nicely. A bit potent on the nose but smooth, dry, a bit if gin essence really works well. Intriguing experiment.

Oh hey, look at this rating I just found in my iphone notes backlog. Feb 25, 2015: Draft at BW anniversary party. Near black pour with ring of dark brown head. Aroma of dark fruit and rich chocolate. Chocolate covered cherries with botanical overtones. Tangy fruit tastes here to me. Moderately sweet, tangy astringent/tannic finish. Palate: thick body, feels like cold French press with grainy coffee grounds hanging around. Avg to high carb. Overall: way better than I expected a gin barrel aged Baltic porter to be. Also, it’s surprisingly dead in here.

Big Horn Northgate (The Ram) Imperial Rye IPA
On tap at WA Winter Beer Festival 2015, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out herbal notes, some spiciness from the rye and a touch of hops. Flavour is very bizarre, with an artificial orange syrupy quality upfront, resin, and some spiciness. Man, this is messed up. No way this cloying orangey sweetness is needed. Crap.

Bottle shared by Yaniv. Dry oak immediately in the flavor. Heavily roasted grain. Some port and red wine, and a thick, heavy palate. I get the gin barrel though a light herbal quality. This was very good.

Bottle shared by Yaniv, thanks! Pours near black with a grayish dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of roasted malts with a bit of dry gin barrel and some earthy dark grains. Flavor has roasted malts and dark grains with an oaky gin note supporting.

Very dark brown color. Quick disappaiting light brown nose. Really rich milk chocolate, caramel, honey, gram crackers. Fuck me. Gin barrel sits in the background with nice juniper berry character. Body is a bit thinner than I expected, though i realized it is a Baltic Porter not a porter. Lots of dark fruit, caramel, dark fruit molasses. Smooth, but the tartness of the malt is pronounced. I kinda feel like it starts great and then dies a bit.

Draft 12 oz pour at Bottleworks. Pours black with a tan fizz head. For some reason I was surprised to see the RAM doing the anniversary beer this year, but it stacks up nicely with the rest. Nice chocolate aroma with a roasted flavor. Has a big aged feel to it. Smokey finish. Fun beer overall. Glad I was able to try this after months of procrastination. Very nice.

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, black licorice, molasses, citrus, and faint pine/gin. It pours a dark brown with some orange highlights and a small beige head that fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. The flavor starts with dark chocolate, molasses, and carmaker. The finish has light-moderate gin, roasted malt, and a touch of vanilla. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel.

On tap at Bottleworks, pours black with a small tan head. Nose brings out no notice of the gin, with chocolate, light roast, and dark fruits. Flavour reveals more of the barrels, sort of bringing out a celery-like quality that is surprisingly nice, along with dark fruits, chocolate and roast. Really cohesive. I wouldn’t have thought the gin would lend well to a Baltic Porter, but they nailed this. Excellent.

Bottle for rating #6300:   Pours black, moderate to large foamy brown head, strong lacing.   Looks good!   Sweet roasted malts and oatmeal on the nose, some chocolate, juniper, and licorice on the nose.   Smells tasty!   I expected this to be super thick for some reason, but its fairly moderate in body and mouthfeel.   The Gin barrel aging is more noticeable on the tongue than on the nose.   Hides the 9.1% very well.   Slight touch of dark pitted fruit.   Not as robust as other Baltic Porters, but its certainly unique and interesting.   Smooth finish, soft juniper, chocolate, and gin characters linger.   Tasty and very enjoyable Porter.   The Gin adds an interesting complexity to this beer that I wasn’t sure how well it would work out, but it certainly does!

Weird that no one has rated this yet. Nice nose of dark roasted malt some dark fruit there is gin it's spicy but not overwhelming. Black pour tan head nice lace. Flavors of dark roast, dark fruit, licorice, medium sweet, spicy gin barrel takes a supporting role. Smooth mouthfeel, barrely dryness, medium carb. A well done beer.

22. Thanks, A! Pours a murky dark amber with a dense and creamy tan head that sticks around. Big sweet beautiful nose, showing tropical fruits, caramel sweet nose, soft apples, and a bit of peppery rye. Creamy medium body with lively carb. Big darkly toasted caramel base under a heavy wash of nicely balanced tropical fruit and subtle peppery counterpoint. Beautifully integrated. Good stuff.

Draft at SB. Pours a murky burnished medium amber with a dense and creamy/sudsy medium tan head. Big tangy sweet gorgeous grapefruit nose. Creamy medium body with lively carb--pretty damn well dialed for the big monsters all these hop mob beers are turning out to be. Toasty caramel, some toffee, lots of grapefruit and oranges on the mid palate. Long sweet resiny bite. Nice, uh, little beer.

On tap at Brouwer’s Cafe, pours a hazy bright orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out stone fruits, almost a funky brett-like quality, and resinous hops. Flavour is really well-balanced, with stone fruits, some funk, and citrus hops. Quite fruity win a good balance of flavours, especially the unusual funk. Great stuff.

Draft at brouwers. Clear gold orange, good head and nice lacing. Aroma: lemon zest; tangerine; hay, weeds along a country road. Maybe with a skunk that passed by in the not too distant past. Taste brings notes reminiscent of brett-ipas. Fruit, borderline funk, slightly tart but in a way that works really well for me. Palate: full body, average carbonation, smooth texture. Overall: I’m surprised by how much I’m enjoying this one.

Big Horn Northgate (The Ram) Prime Meridian Fresh Hop Pale
Draft pour at the Northgate restaurant. Pours a golden color with some nice, refreshing hops on the aroma. Pretty light beer with a really nice amount of grassy hop flavor. Pretty one dimensional beer. Mostly hops, but it’s cool because I love hops. Probably one of the better RAM beers in my opinion. Good beer.
