It poured a clear golden color with a white head. The aroma was of corn, with some toasty malts and grass. The taste was more grassy flavor with more corn.

Holy Brew Heavenly Light Pilsner
Bottle from Vintage Cellar. Pours gold with a white head. Fairly bready aroma. Light body. Flavor is lightly malty and very lightly bitter. Seems like a pils ought to exceed 6 IBUs.

Holy Brew Purgatory Pilsner
Bottle. Gold bodied with a short, fizzy white head. It’s gone before you know it. Aroma is that of sweet malt, cereal grains and corn syrup. Not off-putting but nothing that makes my mouth water to have a beer. Tastes much like you imagine from the aroma - cereal grains, sweet malts, and corn syrup. Faint straw-like flavors as well. Body is light with a fizzy, bubbly carbonation. Finish is more malts and grains with the afore mentioned corn syrup. This would be a good lawnmower beer ice cold, but not much else.

Holy Brew Purgatory Pilsner
Clear golden coloured body with a nice sized and frothy white head. Aroma of lemons, malt and some very mild hops. Light-bodied; Very mild malt and cardboard flavour with some subtle metal and sweetness and a very small amount of hops. Aftertaste is super mild, only some of the malt and sugars coming through. Overall, pretty bland, but not offensive at all. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 15-June-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 18-July-2010.

12 oz bottle. Actually, I was surprised, that for a light beer this one ain’t too bad. Mind, touch of hops and malts. Certainly more drinkable than the typical light brews out there.

Holy Brew Heavenly Light Pilsner
Crystal clear coloured body with a light soapy white head. Aroma of pale malt, fake sugars and a touch of cardboard - nothing really. Light-bodied; Watery, slightly malty flavour with a touch of fake sugars, some mild soap and a tiny bit of cardboard - bland as could be. Aftertaste, soap and cardboard dominate with a touch of citrus and pale malt. Overall, a pretty bad beer - even for the style this is showing nothing, and even though I’ve seen this just the one time, I wouldn’t recommend anyone buying it - even to try something new! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 15-April-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 05-June-2010.

Holy Brew Purgatory Pilsner
Sweet malts with some earth. Not nearly enough dry, crisp hops to really bring me back for more. It’s not bad really, it’s just not as refreshing as I like in a pilsner.

Holy Brew Purgatory Pilsner
12oz bottle. Filtered orange tan color. Quick-dissipating head, leaves some soapy, oily traces. Sweet, sugary malt aroma with a slight earthy hop touch. Light to medium bodied, with some orange flavors among the sweet, sugary malt tones. The malt body is smooth enough, but shows little character. The hoppy bitterness is slightly above par for a Pale Lager, redeeming it a little. Unimpressive, sub par stuff overall.

Holy Brew Purgatory Pilsner
Calling this a high gravity beer is a joke. This beer was very bland and tasteless. It was smooth enough to be drinkable but nothing to be excited about. I would have much rather drank a lionshead swill bottle from this brewey...weird it was on draft at a relatively respectable beer establishment.

Holy Brew Heavenly Light Pilsner
(Sample Date: 12/5/2009 Source:Other) Pint at Greene Leafe in Williamsburg. Very grainy with a touch of fruitiness. Smells more like an ale. Almost clear light golden with little head. Tastes more like a hefe than a pilsner. Light fruitiness and dry finish. Quite refreshing with very little residual bitterness.

Holy Brew Heavenly Light Pilsner
Sampled at the DC Local tasting. Pours crystal clear yellow with a fizzy white head. Someone at the tasting remarked, "smells like rotting apples." I thought it smelled like a moldy beehive. Flavor is lightly sweet, stale grass, pears. Watery finish. Tastes a lot better than it smells.

Holy Brew Heavenly Light Pilsner
Bottle shared by argo0: Pours a pale watery golden with a thin ring of white head. Has a bland grassy sugar corn nose. Starts with a light pale malty sweetness and some bland earthy hops before a very thin finish. Not much going on here, but it is drinkable at least.

Holy Brew Heavenly Light Pilsner
12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear golden amber with a thin fizzy head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma of corn, corn and more corn with a bit of toasty malts and grass. Taste is more prominent grassy notes with more corn. Balanced a bit better this time. A little acridity creeps in the finish. Thin-medium bodied. Decent for a light lager.

Holy Brew Heavenly Light Pilsner
Serving: Draft. Appearance: Pale straw yellow with a foamy, white head. Aroma: Light nose with a touch of grain and grass. Flavor: Light grain and malt sweetness but a decent hop bite. Slight grass notes on the hop end. This isn’t too bad for a light beer. Palate: High carbonation with a light mouthfeel and a medium-short finish. Overall: I have certainly had worse light beers. I wouldn’t mind having a few of these during the dog days of summer.

Holy Brew Purgatory Pilsner
Serving: Draft. Appearance: Straw yellow color with a foamy, white head. Aroma: Light nose with notes grain and corn. Flavor: Grainy and sweet, slightly watery. Mild back bitterness. Rather unspectacular. Palate: Medium carbonation with a light, watery mouthfeel and a short finish. Overall: This one misses the mark. I am guessing they are trying to compete with the BMCs of the world and unfortunately it’s not much better than they are.
