2.6 Crystal Springs Czech Dark Lager Can. Head is initially average sized to large, creamy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark brown. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (roasted grain/nuts), lightly hoppy (herbs), with a light note of popcorn. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Looks great, smells ok (a bit popcorny), but it's strikingly sour in the mouth. Pretty flimsy and watery too. Drain pour, unfortunately. Sunday, April 16, 2023

1.7 Crystal Springs Naughty Marilyn From a can. Pours an almost glowing golden with bright white head and okayish lacing. Off aroma (smells rather skunky, just like Heineken). Plenty of flavors in the palate, but it’s hard to break them apart into their constituent ingredients. None are spectacular flavors. All kinda gross. Saturday, April 8, 2023

3.5 Crystal Springs Naughty Marilyn Can - I’ll admit that I bought this because it was cheap - 10.99 for a 6 pack of tripel at a moment when I’m a little light on cash? Why the fuck not? - it’s got it’s flaws, but really not bad considering my expectations - medium sweet, but finishes dry, moderately bitter, with moderately peppery phenolic character - a bit of pear and a very mild flinty character on the tail end - a little rusticity on the tail end - it’s not great, but I’m pleasantly surprised. 2.9 Crystal Springs Tripel Can. Head is initially small, fizzy, white, mostly/fully diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), with notes of overripe banana, alcohol, pepper, concrete, clove. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic. It doesn't look particularly Belgian (it struggles to develop a head at all and it's crystal clear), and it certainly errs toward the "banana bomb" side, but it's not too bad. Kinda flabby and boozy in the mouth, but not awful for the style. Wednesday, April 6, 2022

3 Crystal Springs Patty Criek 16.9 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy amber orange with almost no head that completely dissipates. The aroma is funky acidic brett and cherries. The flavor is sweet fruit and cherry with a sour twang and some band-aid and funky brett. The mouthfeel is light bodied with no carbonation. Overall, some interesting notes and some flaws. 1.9 Crystal Springs C.A.P. - Classic American Pilsner Can. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is light yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain, corn syrup), lightly hoppy (herbs), with a note of DMS. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Lots of cooked vegetable water odor this time, and still sour, so sadly it's an even worse batch than last year. Monday, June 15, 2020

3.4 Crystal Springs Naughty Marilyn Pour is a hazy gold with a large white head. Aroma is a slight fruit ester with some vanilla yeast. Flavor is more of that vanilla yeast ester with some cara malt and a some citrus fruit pop at the end. Not so much a triple I think this is more Belgian golden ale. Decent all around with the yeast taking a front seat. Saturday, March 21, 2020

2.5 Crystal Springs Oktoberfest Can. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white to light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark brown. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, nuts, malt syrup), with light notes of grape/plum. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Quite a confused beer...called Oktoberfest, but it's not a Vienna, Maerzen, or a golden Festbier. Instead it pours dark brown, so it looks (and mostly smells) like a Dunkel. But it's actually an ale...so, presumably an attempt at an Altbier? Or perhaps more probably an attempt to make a Dunkel without actually having to deal with making a lager. Any way you slice it, it's a rather crude concoction...syrupy sweet, simple, and kind of raw. Monday, October 21, 2019

2.2 Crystal Springs Juicy Yo Can. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy light to medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (orange), with notes of butter, dirty dish rag, plastic. Flavor is moderately sweet, light to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Obvious diacetyl and other off notes ruin the aroma, and a dirty sourness hurts the mouth experience. Another highly unpleasant drain pour from this brewery, I'm afraid. Tuesday, August 6, 2019

1.7 Crystal Springs Hudson Can. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is cloudy light yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly hoppy (orange), with notes of butter, onions, solvent. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery/velvety/oily texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Very dirty and sour. A repulsive drain pour. Wednesday, July 31, 2019
